SFDR has been tested twice, and the propulsion was tested not the missile .....no missile on SFDR will come anytime soon.

R77 has bigger motor,so its burnout time should be higher than the AMRAAM,no one will fire even in the range of 70kms,the opponent plane would certainly change the course to evade and the missile will have no chance at those ranges unless the enemy is ignoring the rwr at continues heading...

Astra has similar fuel density but carries more fuel than the amraam, and probabaly higher burnout time for the same density which makes it to sustain more energy for the combat, this also is evident that it also offers siginifcant capability of what is called wvr when compared to amraam

Depends on what IAF wants,if they say that we are going ahead with the base astra but will now fund for the development of mk2 of the varaint which offers further enhancement in the capabilities, then it will still take sometime depends upon the new need, say IAF now requires an aesa seeker and...

    Astra BVRAAM

Not surprised by this ,indeed a very good system, just requires a bulk order and fast integration on IAF fleet so that we can say good bye to MICA,Derby and R77s.

    Astra BVRAAM

It is better than AIM120C5 in raw kinematic performance , and as im saying this from quite few years,it is a match for AIM120C7 in terms of overall performance and flexibility,no wonder why IAF officers call Astra a game changer missile....

IR SEEKER OR IIR SEEKER.... India too should learn and go for dual pulse rocket motor for astra Mk2, these BVRAAM play majority of role in air battle than ramjet powered missiles.

That banshee itself cruises at high subsonic speed when and is way smaller than actual aircraft. And 90 percent of fighter aircraft sortie is done in subsonic flight. Sent from my Aqua Ace II using Tapatalk

For air defence you need huge booster for the Scramjet to work. Sent from my Aqua Ace II using Tapatalk
  17. Steven Rogers

    Astra BVRAAM

Scramjet for a2a, you will then need your aircraft flying at Mach 4+ to launch the missile or need a huge booster which can boost the missile at Mach 4+ to make it a hypersonic run. Sent from my Aqua Ace II using Tapatalk

What's the source for that. How how will it help India when they are developing R77M for their 5th gen fighter. It was meant to be the Indian project with Russia, coz India already have tested the ducted ramjet, so what Russia's part of work. Sent from my Aqua Ace II using Tapatalk
