Why are you trying to compare Oranges with apples? or can u compare a Sports car with SUV? for starter M777 is ligh weight 155mm/39 cal and ATAGS is 155mm/52 cal, Towed/SPG ie. can be towed + has power pack to move around. If u still can't get it, we cannot help u out.

Indian artillery program is moving ahead now..we are in much better position than 2-3 years back. we have ATAGS, its progress is quite good, expect it to hit production floor soon and start replacing old guns. Dhanush production is up and running, it will replace all bofors guns in future...

every shell costs a lot, india bought russian precision guided shells during kargil and most failed or underperformed, they too were super expensive. Excalibur shell cost is $89,000 vs $300-400 regular or normal 155mm round. that's over 200% chinese or russian Laser guided shells cost performed...

AH-4 is a Towed Artillery, its a chinese copy of M777, it has not moved to production and is only been developed as claimed by chinese. Also its maximum range is only 25 km firing PGM (laser gudied ammunition), where as excaliber is GPS guided and has range of 40km. chinese are known to provide...

can u please clarify your claim? AH-4 is supposed copy of M777. everything is said to be identical, even range is identical.. also if u are not aware what chinese claim is never true, if they say range is 40, consider it below that. FYI india is getting M777A2, which can fire Excliber round till...

I believe india should opt for few 105 mm jeep mounted light guns for RAPID or Airborne operations too..the Kalayani concept of 105 mm Humvee mounted gun was a nice concept. even DRDO/OFB presented a 105mm SPG (on BMP2). These are the requirements given by army under FARP , plan to get 2700 -...

not sure on figures people are sharing.. last i heard was that Dhanush gun initial requirement was to be 114 guns and in time will move to 414 guns. also ATAGS was to have 1800+ replacement program.. may be MoD is placing smaller orders for time being. also 100 K9 are too low. porkis have 290+...

I believe Armoured divisions have Artillary brigades attached to them, SPGs are attached to Strikes corps and more to RAPIDS now. indian SPGs count is very low, only 100 K9 isn't helpful, india need 100+ fot porki front.

I seriously think 105mm mounted less recoil version is best gun presented by Bharat Forge. Indian army should get it, it will be best support gun for Airborne troops and troops on move at leh.

and i liked most Garuda 105- Garuda 105mm is ultra-light gun system. India should place much larger order for these, useful for norther fronts, Airborne troops and close combat support. order them in larger numbers. Vehicle should be indian though... I will still go with drdo 155 52 cal...
