Gripen beats JF-17 in Thrust to weight ratio JF-17 has 0.91 while Gripen has 0.97 check again then. and wing area for gripen is 30 sq m while for JF-17 is only 24.4 sq m, more the wing better the angle of attack and maneuverability. Please recheck again:thumb:

But right now a lot of pakistanis are questioning the defence budget...if imran wins, will he lower the budget? J-17 is affordable fighter for PAF but not sure if $50 million fighter a piece can be sustained in 2014 or 2015..may be after 2018 or 2020.

Cost of training pilots and weapons systems comes when the craft is new as in case of C-130J and one need pilots and ground staff trained and infrastructure made for them..but Su30 mki and super su have a lot commonality so these costs are lowered or eliminated. Su30 life cycle cost is high but...

my only question is can pak afford a $50million each fighter if 100 are built ~$5billion and take infra cost as extra... as far as current state is considered it will be hell of the task for pak economy to absorb this pressure.

under discussion is the manufacturing cost...life cycle costs are different which is important in signing deal....same as airbus won over il-78 as its life time cost will be lower due fuel efficiency. as far as LCA mk2 is concerned i believe it will cost ~$40 million if ASEA is too placed in it...

No, sorry as the planes will be built in india, its cost will be low, the Su30 MKI costs $30 million and super Su30MKI will cost $40 million - $60 million...depending how their production and TOT goes through....more we build lesser the cost for eg if more similar AESA are made their overall...
