Aegis provides 'mid-course' interception with it's interception missiles having ranges up to 2,500 kms!! That's makes total sense for ships to carry them. Maybe when AD-1/AD-2 come to life with longer ranges..... Am still skeptical about ships carrying terminal phase ballistic-missile-interceptors
