I feel in modern day, tactical bombing is more relevant than ww2 era carpet bombing. So why a strike aircraft need so much payload. Even in russia-ukraine war, we see Su-34 inspite of its high payload capacity carry max. 4 FAB bombs with guidance modules.

So Tejas is cleared for firing Derby missile or I-Derby-ER? Also, is IDerby-ER comparable with AIM 120C-5?

Exactly what I feel. Tejas excels in A2G role as of now. Further expanding its flight envelope, making it more manuevarble and adding more powerful radars, A2A missiles to its aresenal should be the priority.

I think HAL Tejas IOC might be used for A2G role in the western front. Is Tejas IOC equipped for handling Pakistan threat ? It has R-73 and Derby baseline version (not ER). Still dont understand the logic behind this step.

Yes. Still, missiles and radars from different countries is generally a big no-no. Also a reason Derby or Python family is never integrated on a Su-30MKI platform?

One more thing that intrigued me is that why R-77 is not integrated on Tejas FOC, Tejas IOC versions. Is it because the ELTA-2032 radar cannot guide the missile for such long distances (over 100 km) ?

One important thing I feel which is more important than 9G capability is the Mach number and rapid throttle response. This will be useful in evading the incoming air-air missile, when Tejas is outside the NEZ of the missile.
