    Akash Surface-to-air Missile

From what you are saying, I gather that the 25 to 30 km range will be where the missile will be really effective. So we could have used a different propulsion system, making the missile even lighter with the same energy thourghout it's light path.

    Akash Surface-to-air Missile

Well AKASH being an accelerating missile instead of coasting, the speed of the missile will keep on increasing. So, if mach 2.2 is the highest speed only at it's end. There is a very good probability that the avg speed of the missile can only mach 1

When I meant they re not accurate, I meant that their flight path can vary, even the launchers cannot have precise location on where they ll strike. So it becomes all the more harder for ABMs to track the incoming and wavering missile and nuetralise it. Read up on the failures of PAC 2 in the...

It varies with the range of BM. For a short range/tactical BM 10~15 mach is expected. The trajectory may be same, but a flight path of a BM may be highly erratic, that's why the CEP of BM's are usually higher then others. Also there is the consideration of BM's breaking up on re entry like the...

It didn't seem  enough to the designers of the missile. The development of the missile started in 1983. So the plans would have been layed in 1970's itself.

^^ Check post #325. I m just thinking out aloud here The Patriot missile shares the same dimension as that of the Akash. However the Patriot gives a range of 240KM with a larger warhead, whereas Akash gives 30km.

IMO even if it misses the target, the blast will do the required damage. Also the EMP generated during a nuclear explosion is enough to blow out the electronics in a aircraft. There was a doc about this somewhere in Discovery.

Sir, IMO the nuclear submarines were created to stay hidden, or deeper. It isn't meant to surface, that's why we do not see the US or Russia come up with Submarine launched SAM.
