Money is very much a big point for a sector like EV where Tesla and BYD spent over a decade just in R&D before they could make EV cars in bulk and before they could even turn profit. This is a luxury which Tata and M&M can't afford. Add to that almost Govt office like work culture in core...

Tesla is still 10-15 years ahead of most other players in EV market (apart from BYD who is near to Tesla). They do have expertise in Software and the Hardware as well as EV tech. They are simply too big now to ignore for a market like India. However it is still not the right time to let them in...
