    INS Vikrant Aircraft Carrier (IAC)

One of the frequent problems seems to be FCS settings which gets set back to default almost after every landing. Russians were not sure why. Not sure if it has been resolved. And frequent engine issues plus not enough power from its engines. Regarding the spine, I am not sure.

have been saying for quite longer. Pay 500m to get IP rights for the Mig29k aircraft design and if possible with Flight control law code and design the rest of the avionics ourselves. Like J11. I mean heck, fit Mig29k airframe with F414, Israeli radar, Indian cockpit and weapons. Would be a...

It's not an easy task using missiles with respect to Pakistan. Every missile launch by India will be taken as excuse by Paks to launch their strategic missiles as they will feign ignorance about the kind of missiles launched by India. If you had noticed, Pakistan have very very less conventional...

All I am saying is Vicky is newer than Kuznetsov in all aspects. They did not have money and they had this carrier in harbour and did not know what to do. India decided to pay for it. By the end of it it was quite new. It's life has been designed for 30 years and not more. I do suspect Vicky...

I don't know on what basis this availability question was brought about by members here. Initially it started with a random tweet by someone I could not recognize. And many members jumped here claiming how it is all bad. During the time of INS Vikramaditya delivery, even Russian navy thought the...

That was in response to an "imagination" INS Vikramaditya has never been seen in any exercises which is false. I had an friend who was serving on INS Vikky during 2019 issue with Pakistan. It was on Frontline war patrol for more than 2 months at a stretch. It has issues but definitely not an...

Whatever be the problems with Mig29k it's definitely not an problems with radar or missiles. It's the FCS software and mission computer. FCS has to be completely rewritten. The airframe of 29k is an excellent one.

On what basis did Many come to conclusion Vikky availability is low? Based on a tweet from one ramdom unknown guy?

No offense man. But this is a defence forum. No need to call any fighters junk. And can have civil debate. Mig and Su aren't going to fight one to one anytime soon. Quantity has a quality of its own. It all comes down to integrated system efficiency.

Course I did not talk about peacetime. Was talking reg war scenario. As of now IN need 60 fighters min to equip 2 AC. Even if 10 are in extreme maintenance onshore, 50 should be on the AC. Even with a bad availability rate of 50%, only 25 will be available for missions. So full utilisation can't...

Vikky can't carry 30 Migs. The max it can carry is 24 plus 10-12 helis as it was a cruiser before. Vikrant can carry more like 30-32 fighters. As it was designed as a carrier from scratch.

It's not our wishlist. It's reg what Navy wants. It has to think on what to do with resources. If it decides for 600m do you want a frigate or 12-14 Naval Tejas they will go for an Frigate obviously. Moreover Tejas can only do CAP, not offensive missions. The only thing I can see Naval Tejas is...

Problem being Vikrant won't have the full complement of Mig29 fighters. It has to share it with Viky. With current numbers decreased to 42, we can't even get it from Russia since they don't operate that. We should have brought Mig29k design and IP.

I hope Navy inducts a few for training. Naval Tejas trainer would be a good step up for the pilots. But as far as combat goes, it's not worth it.

These money can't be used for defence resources. They will be should be used for building more roads. It's not as if our highways are world class yet. Economy needs to grow 10%.

    INS Vikrant Aircraft Carrier (IAC)

I think this IAC manufacturing is one of the prime reasons why GoI is hesitant even to order another replica of the INS Vikrant or even home design 20k tonnes troop carriers. Unlike subs where we have to design some stuffs from scratch, or get from Russia or even steal, surface ship building...

I did not talk about IN here. But rather the sucking manufacturing capabilities of Indian ship building yards where it takes eons to manufacture anything. With our huge resources we should be competing with Korea on shipbuilding. But due to poor manufacturing process, our naval shipbuilding suffers.
