A modernised 7.62x52 Isapore would be adequate for military but wonder it serves the need of Dalals. Note USA military is using modernised or upgraded M14s which are 20 year older than Isapores.

We already have manufacturing line for 7.62x51 Isapore and this production line can be modified to produce modern bull pub version of the same rifle like Keltec 7.62-51 bull pub. But then nobody gets any bribes from import Dalals.

INSAS was designed in late 1970s, now our industrial capability has improved. But integrity has decreased.

India has been manufacturing a very famous 7.62x51 rifle called L1 or Isapore. If Army wants a modernized 7.62x51 rifle then OFB can design and manufacture it within 6 months based on the design of MCIWS. The whole point of issuing such a RFI without tapping DRDO or OFB is for well known reasons.

I fully understand the need to earn bribes. But lets do it the chinese way without damaging the nation. Call 5 top pvt engineering companies, and ask them to produce reverse engineered Hk-417 etc and give the contract to the best model. Take the cut. Everyone happy.
