The whole idea to ask Order of 1800 Sniper Rifles + 27 lakh ammunition to be fulfilled in one year is to oust OFB & SSS. OFB Vidhwansk which has been relaunched was first produced in 2008 but Army refused to place any orders. 100 were produced for BSF & production stopped. Its max range in...

I think MHA wanted 30,000 p.a. When OFB failed for 5 years to produce anything, the order was reduced to 5,000 p.a. OFB started producing 1,000 p.a around 2015, thereafter I don't know.

Even DRDO knew in 2000 only that INSAS design is outdated. Inspite of their repeated requests, they were only allowed in 2007 to start MCIWS project. Anyhow INSAS is outdated. But we have :- 1. P-72 from SSS 2. Offers from Indra 3. MCIWS from DRDO 4. 5.56X45 Carbine (new design based on SIG)...

Even for belt fed GPMG, the training is to fire short burst 4-5 rounds, wait 5 sec and then repeat. Hence 40-80 rounds per minute. Change barrel after 3-5 minutes ie 200-300 rounds. Even at higher intense firing trigger control is maintained. In the video, I don't think INSAS LMG was jamming...

    INSAS Rifle, LMG & Carbine

INSAS LMG was being used way beyond its capability. Its supposed to fire max 1000 rounds in Half hour ie 30 minutes. In the video clip, it seemed around almost 100-150 rounds were being fired per minute. Magzine was being emptied in single burst without any trigger control.

Huge magazine well of OFB 0.338 Rifle makes me wonder if the chassis is modular and can take barrel group of 12.7x99mm also. Though OFB has reverse engineered OSV96 in 12.7x107 also

I think Ghatak Rifle Cost is Rs. 50,000 ie around USD 600, which might become Bench Mark for AK-203

The Magzine well of 0.338 Sniper Rifle seems bigger than 0.338 Bullet Magzine. Is it possible that this is a common receiver platform which can be modified to 0.50" also?

    INSAS Rifle, LMG & Carbine

The background talk in the video indicates that rifle was tested out to 800m. This is broadly limit of 7.62x51 round & thereafter more powerful rounds are required. In Civilian situations the average shooting by Sniper is around 100m. And 300m is the outside. Beyond 500m, no sniper will shoot...
