No, not at all. Keeping design of ALH indigenous with some help from out side was the smartest. Since design is ours at any time in future ALH can become 70% indigenous considering the R&D in aviation keeps the same speed. BTW its always the customer who decides what they want in what they are...

Let me start by saying that except engine there are very few sub-systems incorporated in ALH which can not be produced in India. But there is a catch HAL, is a profit intensive PSU which gives far more importance to profit than percentage of indigenous content. Here is few example. 1. HAL...

Saya: IOC is expected by dec 2011 and i think FOC will follow in one year after that. So, i believe IAF will have at least a squadron of LCH in active service by 2014.

ZOOM my take is that TATA in JV with SAAB for future fighter jets is just an eyewash. In reality, this JV is to allow TATAs produce chosen variant of JAS-39 in India for "IAF-126" to meet offset obligations. To be frank, in the name of JV, the TATAs will only be fastening the screw and painting...

Yeah! This very thread is a great prof. IMO, initially, privet industries like Mahindras and TATAs should be included as manufactures and assemblers and later on as a technology developers on equal basis. Reason to it is their unproven capability or better say inexperience in this critical sector.

Wonder why they create unrest among general masses by this kind of nothing sure scheduling. -------------- For IMRH and MTA, HAL should include local industry as an active partner by giving them profitable share of business.
