I would rather be happy with any sort of engine has ability to power Tejas made and design here in my county. what difference it makes if its a super cruise or not for immediate requirement.

Its not specified for which series of prototypes, but its probably K10 series .. SNECMA is the one in the project ..

India need material technology, K10 series of prototypes are perhaps ready for testing and GTRE is ordering lots of fuel for tests .. 18 months was given for new engine, Alot of that time has passed ..

The advanced kaveri would be somewhere between what volvo did with RM-12 and completely designing a new engine. @Twinblade

Tender is out for fuel, Its unknown what kind of engine but its probably Kaveri ..

GTRE has ordered a lot of aviation fuel, For testing new engine .. Its seems they have made the engine and now its ready for testing ..

The Indian engine will not be 500hrs as implied so does spares available in mass and modification can be done at will let it be IAF technicians or via scientific personal at research center .. After every flight, every engine require some spare change, even at HAL their are plenty of parts are...
