Quality control has to be observed, Not like a fin is little scratched and the whole missile is discarded .. CAG made some observation including delay in placing these crucial SAMs ..

Its better than junks which score 3 out of 10 in service .. I have seen Osa-AK preform ace first hand ..

Their are few difference from outside, But dimensional wise, Akash is perhaps longer and fatter than SA-6 so does its rear fins and outlet nozzles are different.

These are not Akash SAM, The chassis and Missiles are different .. ------------ This is SA-6 and the chassis is based on MT-LB chassis .. ==================== Akash SAM is fatter and use T-72 chassis including the radar ..

Quick reaction SAM are meant to provide cover for mech units, Their range should be no less than 15kms and not more than 50kms, Their are 8-10 regt planned and first 6-8 will be raised with foreign SAMs and later 2-3 with Akash NG sams ..

The requirements are made by People in service not by General mass, Akash SAM like any other program has seen change in its specs in its development time .. Besides, The requirement for Akash NG is also prepared by IAF which is also of similar range but more advance in terms of electronics ..
