No idea. The Russians are building a subsonic AK round is all I know. If these AKs are to be used without butts hidden in clothes, then their role would be assassination at close range, possibly on soft targets.

We do not have any doubt that our service men and women are extremely competent and professional - nor we doubt their wisdom in decision making - the concern is whether the decisions are based on merit alone or on outside influence and pressures.

Guys pls keep it civil. AK 203 without stock would be a special purpose gun for special forces and cannot be handled by anyone without special training. Adding low recoil hollow point subsonic rounds (Russia is developing one) with suppressors would make it a perfect assassin's rifle.

Everytime the counter argument seems to be lives of soldiers are paramount and hence they must be given foreign rifles. As if countries which provide indegeneous rifles to their soldiers value their soldiers' lives any less. All this while 400 soldiers have committed suicide in the last 4 years...

This thread is so depressing. The effect of which rifle is being used in modern warfare is same as which brand of pen is being used to write an exam. - Yet our army is hell bent on importing this as well.

In addition to this now DRDO and OFB are undertaking JV with private firms..like ATAGS...army has to understand that indegeneous weapons are to its benefit...and when that happens solutions can be found
