Mandate, responsibility etc etc. Indian SF mandate is a tiny fraction of what it is for the Green Berets. The GBs act on many roles spread far and wide across the world. Indian SF donot. In the AO that Indian SF operate in, we are too large in number. To the point that multiple battalions are...

IDT those are magnifiers. Most probably weapon-mounted PVS14 night vision monoculars.

I believe the incident with the SEALs was a night op without close support. In the setting that the MARCOS did it, it seemed to be much safer. They had a warship close by and you can even see some fast boats on the water as they hit the ocean. I think this was more of an operational test of...

The Tier 1 thing is just for representation purposes. India doesn't have a Tier system for SF. SG operates more on the lines of the CIA Special Activities Center (formerly Special Activities Division or Ground Branch).

Special Group. Probably the only Tier 1 equivalent in the Indian Armed Forces. They operate under RAW and organizationally they fall under SFF (for secrecy reasons). They are designated as 4 Vikas in line with the many Vikas battalions in SFF. They are headed and comprised of only Para SF personnel.

All of em old shots. First 3 Garud commandoes in a killhouse. Second 2, Para SF from the Surgical Strike documentary I think.

I thought this photo hinted at Para SF testing the Arad. That would mean that Para SF and MARCOS are looking to induct it. But some people are saying the Para SF isn't interested. Which one is right?

I had a gel blaster back home and after coming to the US, I got myself a 13 inch keymod gas blowback M4 and good god is it amazing. Also did some upgrades to it, with some real steel parts and a precision inner barrel. The thing shoots like a laser beam and the recoil is satisfying af. It's...

    Indian Special Forces

Yeah, they do. And it's usually with other equally secretive units like SAS or SBS and I'm pretty sure these never come out in the press.

Yeah I checked. Forgive my ignorance. Vanilla SEALs are Naval Special Warfare Group and DEVGRU is Naval Special Warfare Development Group

    Indian Special Forces

Isn't Naval Special Warfare Group stand for SEAL Team 6? So MARCOS aren't just training with SEALs, they're training with Tier 1 operators. God damn 😳😳

Its true that no NATO units use UCP but we saw how good UCP works in that environment in RIMPAC.

    Indian Special Forces

Nope. My guess would be that UCP for VBSS ops, Multicam and MARPAT for jungle ops and Black Multicam for urban ops.

The Vajra Prahar and SFTS kit is mostly basics. The recent 9 Para kit was a well-rounded modern high-speed SOF loadout. That loadout should be standardized for the units that see more action while the rest can have the basics.

Works for me. It makes sense that the higher end of the spectrum, 9, 10, 4, 21 Para SF get the good kit standardized and the rest get the Vajra Prahar or SFTS kit standardized. Btw, could someone please tag those posts about the SFTS and 12 Para SF promo videos?
