    Small arms and Light Weapons

No need to be an expert to see that this gun is fit for policing duties in urban areas. Which is why I'm happy with the AK 203, no chills no thrills but you are sure it is a reliable gun.

    Small arms and Light Weapons

Well it is for our Tier 1 force like NSG or Marcos. So all these bells and whistle can be provided by SSS defence. But going back to new and unproven design like ARAD will become another unfruitful attempt we saw with TAVOR. With Heckler & Koch and FN Herstal becoming woke. We need to have...

    Small arms and Light Weapons

I said Ak 203 will all the bells and whistles not the one slated for para military. If you see Russian Alfa with AK, they are doing pretty well. I think below is well suited for NSG, MARCOS

Then after some time they find that performance is sub-optimal like with Tavor. India has limited budget no chills or thrills, get the AK 203 add all bells and whistles to it. Trial and error stop.

    Small arms and Light Weapons

Well the ammo logistics has been discussed umpteen times on this forum. What MOD does no one can understand and rationally explain it. Ideally it would be to settle for either NATO 7.62 or Russian 7.62 but armed forces want both. Now who am I to say otherwise 🤣 It's just like their requirements...

Good overview on Russian Ratnik system. Would be great to add Pecheneg LMG to our standard infantry squad.

    Small arms and Light Weapons

Wrong, the AK 203 they proposed to us was damn good. It is us who went for the plain vanilla version. Btw AK 47 is rugged, reliable and is preferred over the modern 'INSAS' which OFB shoved down IA throat :) Accept it sometimes problem is with us also.

But you are supposedly creating a domestic assembly line with full ToT and able to meet local demand if a war flare up. The additional cost is not the issue, the real thing is whether Amethi factory will be able to assimilate the tech (if Russia provide) and build quality AK 203. With mass...

    Small arms and Light Weapons

Great at least someone said. I'm pretty sure Indian side saw it and said no we don't want anything fancy gives us the cheapest one. May be they are right also, for para military who are most of the time involved in policing duties why get all the bells and whistles. In any case, if SF or other...

    Small arms and Light Weapons

It says 1 thing the quality of finish is excellent, let us keep fingers crossed OFB guys find innovative ways to give defective kalashnikov to us. But looking at the rifle it's a good increment from INSAS and should give para military forces an edge.

    Small arms and Light Weapons

Ak203 for combat units need to be the 'flashy' one with rails for mounting scopes etc. For support units it can be watered version. Or still better provide the rails, but soldier can have the discretion to addons.

This shift to 6.8mm I'm bit sceptical about it. With respect to future weapons, the AK-47 is still around more that 5decades and likely to remain. The Ak-203 is a good addition over existing Insas, anything is better than waiting for perfection.

    Small arms and Light Weapons

Work within an Indian PSU you would understand the crazy requirement these guys have. No track record to offer but these guys think they know it all. I've seen it first hand at SBI 🙃😃🙃😃 I guess army top brass also becomes babus

    Small arms and Light Weapons

Sig Sauer does not have a carbine to offer. Would make sense to standardise on same family of rifles.

    Small arms and Light Weapons

Is there scope for adding new rifle after sig sauer and ak203 deal?

    Small arms and Light Weapons

So Kalashnikov was right we are yet to exhaust the possibilities of the 7.62mm round.

    Small arms and Light Weapons

Would have been better to give special units the permission to "pimp" their gun.

    Small arms and Light Weapons

@Kunal do Indian army troops have the right to customise their weapons?

    Small arms and Light Weapons

No Russian President and Ramzam Kadyrov Chechen scum I would prefer a decent, reliable gun for the IA nothing flashy but something to keep up with our climatic conditions and perhaps only Russian manufacture such type of guns
