Heard about it quite some time ago. The question is what's the current status. AMCA engine demands a new core that was always clear.

Too many speculations. Let's look forward to first flight of mk1a by next February and then mk2/MWF roll-out by end of 2022. AMCA timelines will become much clear when first prototype rolls out. No point hatching eggs till then. More important is immediate order of 12 mki and 21 mig29...

F119 and XF9 are both for big heavy jets like F22 or su57 class. We have yet to see what weight class European future jets FCAS and tempest came upto. Logic says they will be in F35 weight class since they need to be exported and hence costs need to be controlled. So engine for these should...

AMCA itself will more than match f35 level of stealth with much better aerodynamics. It's avionics will also be ahead of f35 ( which is actually 2000-2010 level technology. ) Barring indegenious engine we can easily match f35 level tech in next 10 years. But USA will move a step ahead with...

A bigger jet means much more money to procure and maintain. AMCA will be around 25ton to 30 ton mtow. For this 110kn×2== 220 kn is more than enough.

110kn wet thrust. 70kn + dry is desirable.

No . They are not giving their core but develop a new core with drdo .

So the JV will develop a new engine core mostly by drdo with precise input from rolls Royce. And then afterburning module by drdo. That's how India could retain the IP. While all these deals sound speculating something has to give . India is building 123 lca + 200 mwf +100tedbf+ 200 can==...

This is exactly what we need. 78 kn dry and 120kn wet. Adjusted for Indian climate this will be perfect for AMCA .

I actually don't know if k9-k10 are separate program or what's there status. There are three engines required in long run. 1. 90kn engine to replace f404 to when lca mk1/mk1a goes for mid life upgrade. ( Airframe inlet design of mk1 can't take 100kn engine as it consumes more fuel. 2. 100kn for...

Yes he has sparked the whole speculation. It will be a very big thing if they could really conclude the agreement. Safran is involved in k9 -k10 engine which are kaveri derivatives with 90-100kn engine. Which will replace gef404 . This 110kn engine is for amca and possibly mwf later batches...

Lol lca is light rafale is medium no comparison between them . J20 and su34 both are heavy and in same league . If j20 is capable no one would touch su35. Lol .

Kaveri design goal was always 81 KN wet thrust. Original f404 was 79 KN on which kaveri was benchmarked. But lca got overweight due to overdesign of some parts like landing gear.

Kaveri weight is now much less. It's twr is 7.8 and with thrust at 81kn it's weight should be 1038kg.

Kaveri is pretty advanced overall. Max temperature is just 100° below that of eurojet while specific fuel consumption is in league of m88. Thrust to weight is low but almost 8:1 with some improvement can meet m88 8.5:1. Like I said before we are looking to meet western standards.
