They are talking about the weight reduced due to composite. It is not case that Tejas's air frame weight is reduced 20% now.

Gentle men Let me put and end to it. Scenario 1 (Power flight) The Descent started at Zero velocity. To travel a distance of 3100 m from Starting speed Zero, an acceleration of 248m /Second is required for 5 second to travel 3100 m. So Plane started Descent at t=0 time with initial velocity...

That may be confusing but as the article states, descent of 3100 m in 5 second is not possible without power flight you can not fall 3100 m merely with gravity in 5 second unless you start descent with a great speed (Supersonic) at t=0 time. That is a limited point I want put forward to...

This sound much logical. You can not travel 3100m in simple free fall in 5 second as g value is 9.8m/s. Plane struck a 1860 KM speed on an average during that 5 second. This speed is not possible in free fall.

This is 3100 meter in 5 second is a speed of 1860 KM per hour. It is great. What is the highest speed Tejas done till date? In my knowledge it is 1699 KM for air force Tejas in high altitude flight without any dive.

Earlier this speed (1350 km ph at sea level) was struck by IAF tejas. Now Naval variant with atleast 1 ton higher payload does this. This is an improvement in performance and according to me it is because of better aerodynamics. If members can remember first flight when it had done double in...

They often mis quote Ex airforce chief P V Naik saying that Tejas is MK1++. Infact, he had said that Tejas is currently Mig 21++ (Before even IOC) He said that airforce has waited a long for it and they did not want partial fighter. this mean they wanted it full developed to its 4th generation...

The part of the solution is to redesign many LRUS in phase manner and replace them with smaller ones or to merge LRUS in one which is actually planned. New chips are coming which will reduce the size of electronics though it will not save much weight, loads of space can be released. Canopy...

I always want basic platform to be top notched as Electronics comes and go. The most latest electronic will become outdated in 6 to 7 years. So first priority is to put platform right aerodynamically, in terms of weight and design, maintenance etc. This should follow the continual improvement...

The variant we chose for LCA Mk2 has Dry thrust of 66 KN. 58 KN engine can not have MTOW of 17.5 tons which you must know. May be it is GE 414 EPE.
  14. HariPrasad-1

ADA Tejas (LCA) News and Discussions

Ok No, here I disagree with you. Since 414 is almost of same dimension and additional thrust partly comes from higher compression ratio. F 414 is always more fuel efficient for particular power output whether it be 54 kn or less. F414 has dry thrust of 66 KN and not 58 KN. with 58 KN dry...

I doubt this. F 414 has some 66 KN dry thrust. Had what you said been truth, MTOW of of Tejas Mk2 which is going to use F414 would not have been 17.5 tons.

F414's additional thrust comes from higher compression ratio it operates. Higher thrust engines rquires higher amount of fuel but only when they are operated at higher than the highest thrust than lower thrust engine. e.g If F 404 and F 414 is operated at 40 Kg der thrust, F 414 wont consume...

Still Mk1+ offers a great scope of improvement. You can easily add couple of hundreds of KG of fule and reduce weight by some 300 to 400 KG and improve aerodynamics by 6 to 8%. This should make Mk1+ a very nice plane which should easily defeat Pakistan's F 16 and china's J10. I do not count JF 17.

Shameless people. better not talk much about them. It makes us shame and angry every time they extend FOC dead line. Some time in February, they told that they may get FOC even before June dead line and now they have conveniently extended it to December.
