I'm not very optimistic. Remember that the shipyards today are already at the point when OFB has now reached (corporate entities with GOI as biggest/only stakeholder), and their efficiency isn't anything to write home about. So corporatization in of itself isn't likely to do any wonders as long...

Not with the MoD's current attitude of favoritism & 'nomination' culture. Sometimes I think they are deliberately trying to scuttle Private enterprise. Did you notice how they only give contracts to Pvt yards that are in poor financial health (like ABG, RNaval, Alcock Ashdown)? Probably to make...

Many thanks! Yes that's indeed P-17A. Great to see good progress...in the process of build from keel laying to launch there was zero difference between Nilgiri and Shivalik (which was built 20 years back), despite so-called "modular construction" being employed and that was disappointing to...

Try for photos. They'll tell us all we need to know. Video brings in whole bunch of variables like traffic noise, paanwallahs/sabjiwallahs yelling etc. and other such undesirable elements. :bplease: Not to mention, it doesn't really give any additional info - not when dealing with a static...

You sure it was Nilgiri and not a P-15B?

P.S. I thought we talking about Surveillance radar aka secondary radar...the LRMFR is a Multifunction aka primary radar.

Possible, but that is speculation at best. Though a very likely one. As of frigates, much will depend on how the surface warfare doctrine develops like I said previously. If NGF is to NGD what 17A is to 15B (basically a smaller ship with almost same capabilities), then same LRMFR can be used...

RAN-40Ls aren't coming anymore because of Finmeccanica blacklisting. We only got the 1 for Vikrant because it was a pre-blacklist contract and as per terms they had to honour any existing deals. I believe it's been decided that the INDRA Sistemas Lanza LTR-25 will be used on P-17As (license...

Yes - though this seems to be an older iteration considering its still showing the RAWL-02 radar on rear mast, plus the funnel seems off (model-making has never been strong suite of our yards). These are the latest official CGIs from MDL/GRSE: And from DND:

NGF Mentioned in TPCR and in MDL correspondence alongside NGD/P18. Dunno any details though. Could be P17A follow on could be something else.

I will call that Rajnath nibbiar and tell him to speak to the nibbiars at MDL, cross-check with nibbiars at GRSE and get back to me, as in, the nibbiar known as Gessler. After which I will contact ya'll nibbiars on this thread and inform you as to what's going to happen. Thereafter I will also...

Yeah yeah we all know about these dubious practices...DPSUs learnt a lot from Russians. https://stratpost.com/indian-warships-costs-escalate-over-225/ "The production of warships for the Indian Navy has faced considerable delays and a cost escalation of around 225 per cent in the case of the...

People thought making the state-run shipyards into corporate PSUs and listing them on stock exchange will be enough...but with the current tendency to 'nominate' everything, they're hardly having to compete even among themselves, let alone with Pvt sector. And Pvt yards are getting the short...

At a displacement of ~2,500 tons they can't really be called "missile boats", they're full blown ocean-going corvettes. There are navies which would consider them frigates. Missile boats are vessels >500 tons like Type 022 or PN Azmat-class FAC(M). Only new-generation Indian surface...

3-4 NGD and 5-6 NGF would be my guess. Most likely 3 & 6. If NGD is indeed AAW-focused we really need only 1 for each CBG.
