    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

It's infighting and a start they will buy more soon. Ideally one of the service should have gone for it. Even if IAF is insistent let them have it. Army should have concentrated on LCH and asked HAL for a new bigger heli for itself .

    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

Boots should be wooden brown instead and desert camo color or light gray ( sky like not white ) for different terrain. The rifles need camo too .

There is a proposal .... They have shown some new samples too but still it's just floating around for now. May be in next 2-3 years something concrete will.be visible to us that will take atleast 5 years from that time to completely implement.

They can reduce the impact of regular ak47 round but these days porks use steel tipped one so the old armour we use itself have become useless. 5.56 NATO round can penetrate them too. In essence we can say yes old one won't provide security even against 5.56 forget 7.62 AK .

    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

The AK round isn't outdated though 6.8 round may be much better for now in carbine and rifle general infantry. Galil Ace manage to provide good accuracy and low recoil for AK round. We need to do a small scale trial of new round by letting RR involved in operation against terrorists try it...

    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

CAR 816/817 cost was a shock in comparison to all other rifles and carbine fielded. May be they are too keen to establish themselves as a supplier to Indian armed forces and consolidate their standing in world Arms market. At the same time their product quality isn't something we can be sure...

    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

They are cheap to operate that's the main advantage. Modern DIs are quite reliable and we will need to wait for the feedback from infantry how they actually perform in terms of reliability for them. Definitely not something which can work reliably in all terrain we operate.

    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

Not standard but you will find many variation within a team due to ongoing modernization. A few are provided with new gears , it is slowly trickling down and will become standard over a period of time. And individual buying off doesn't happen in India, you will need permission from your...

    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

On the contrary ACR and SCAR / Bren 2 are the future... AR aren't going anywhere though but 10+ years down the line... Things will be different. If His rifle is a good ripoff ACR and perform well must be further refined and inducted. Same with SSS AK derivative or Carmel/ Galil for AK...

    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

It could be the one solution for all role like Galil though with Caracal we can have better bargain on product ownership. I wish MOD quickly take a decision and done with it. Every day they delay means another day for troops with outdated rifles.
