At today's dollar rate, Gorshkov is worth about 14k crores ($2.3b) while IAC-1 will be just 8K crores when finished. What a waste of money for Gorky or what a great bribe deal.

IMHO, a 76mm gun has a slow rate of fire and so not very effective as CIWS. I think these sponsons will have most likely AK630 based CIWS which cud be Kastan also.

Many merchant ships of GOI owned SCI have the names of our decorated soldiers and officers. Politicians will name everything as Nehru, Indira and Rajiv while we have far too many ships. If you want them to be named after politicians, you will need to ensure that Nehru-Gandhi family dies faster. LOLZ

CSL had this capability for long. They were chosen for IAC-1 only bcoz of this very reason. regarding electrical fittings, I wish to inform you all that this system of busbars started from ships construction and than found way into computers. The construction of ship never stopped even when it was floated out last time. This ship is being constructed in a modular manner and the construction of cabins and other stuff continued thruout. You will find that with 3 shifts working, they will complete this ship very very fast.

The Harrier was built to operate from positions close to the battlefield during cold war era. The assumption was that most bases will be put out of action by using missiles and so only V/STOL/STOL fighters will be usefull. It was for this reason that roads were developed which cud act as...

USMC operates them from their helicopter carriers and this is the best ac for those ships. They use it more as a tactical bomber.

SH was more of a fleet defence aircraft. I won't give it much of a chance against F-16 blk 50 onwards but below that, It can hold out against any of F-16 variants.

Bulbous bow adds to the range but reduces manoueverability and for this reason you will rarely find them on frigates and destroyers or small fast attack crafts.

This video says it all regarding bow thrusters. In IN we have two branches of divers called Ships Divers (SD) who can dive upto 120feet depth and Clearance divers (CD) who can go to the limits of human endurance. The CDs can spend a few days under water in diving bells. All MARCOS are CDs. SCUBA...

@p2prada, You will notice that designing a warship is not all that easy. It requires a lot of research, CFD analysis and hydrodynamics analysis. Hydrodynamic analysis is like wind tunnel testing for an ac. We use scaled models of the ship and create waves in similar scales to check their effect...
