Stalling alpha and alpha upto which you can retain control of the ac are two different things. An ac can remain stalled and yet be flyable and controllable that is what we call post stall controlability. Rafale, Gripen, EFT, F-25 etc have that as 50* & above. Now you may not stall and yet have...

53* sweep back has a stalling alpha of nearly 35*. any ac not capable of reaching its stall alpha is a failure.

The TACDE will fly these ac while the sqn pilots continue conversion. TACDE will lay down the procedures and tactics to exploit this ac. writing of manuals, preparation and formulation of tactics and conversion of pilots can continue simultaneously. Please remember that IAF will be inducting two...

Yes, the tailless Delta design and Delta design are best for high speed cruise. They are most optimum for high speed.

I meant drag associated with high subsonic speed.

Delta design and Tailless Delta designs are most optimum for high subsonic cruise regimes and they provide least drag in those conditions. The problem arises at high AOA to get max CL. The drag rise compared to other designs is higher for Delta designs in those regimes. Infact even I am...

The fuel flow is a direct function of thrust. Higher the load, more is the thrust reqd so higher is the consumption. As stated, at higher altitudes the thrust needed is low as the density of air is less and drag is a function of IAS. So for same load, you will have less consumption at high...

Thrust is reqd to overcome drag, drag is dependent on many things of which weight is one of the reasons. In short, additional wt will not have any serious effect as the additional thrust will give far bigger benefit. I explained that when I used the example of F-16.

Your question is a bit incorrectly phrased. it is not SFC but thrust used on which the Fuel consumption is based. F414INS6 will have better SFC and more thrust than F404. But Mk2 will have additional fuel cell to increase its range, so no problems.

I asked that question as you justified the delta planform for the need to have large wingarea for load carrying. I wanted to tell you that wing area is not the criteria but engine thrust is. Now with same shape and increased size, MK2 with higher thrust engine will be able to carry 1 ton extra...

Pls compare the wing area of F-16 Blk 60 with that of LCA and tell me which one has a bigger weapon load and why? Your logic about wing area and delta config for LCA is wrong.

Pak-Fa/FGFA is probably not meeting its targets and also not likely in the near future. I am basing my assumption on two factors, one that russians are still far from the desired engine tech and second, they have decided to make Pak-fa fly at 75k ft and provide the pilot a completely pressurised...

LCA is now a TINA (There is no alternative) and also NOTA(None of the above) option for IAF. They have to go for LCA in large numbers now. But I am happy that MK2 will be a far more capable ac than MK1 and the wait might turn out to be worth it. IMHO, IAF shud take over the supervision of...

If you wud read my posts, I have never posted about N-LCA. I have only posted about Mk2. The above post was w.r.t IN scuttling the development. Infact, in a recent meeting with ACNS (Air) who happens to be my senior from Sea Harriers, I had a frank discussion regarding N-LCA with him and asked...

@ersakthivel, I had asked you to keep the debate graceful but you are again crossing your limits. You never answer question and resort to rhetoric. Like you never replied my question about radius of turn and ROT & wingloading. In that I also asked you why there has been no ac with cranked arrow...

This is what I do not like, you keep repeating same stuff over and over again. I must say just the way you had no idea about ROT and wingloading, you are wrong about L/D ratio also. can you please explain to me how L/D ratio affects performance of a jet engined ac and what is the diff between...

Vortex generators can be LERX and chins also. The compound delta wing of LCA also does that so nothing new about. But do you know that vortex add drag to the ac? The graph you posted was about movement of CP with AOA and not about Cl. That is what I wanted to inform you. the x/c means distance...

I won't rate MK1 much against these ac but MK2 will be able to take on the best. J-20 is more of a bomber and not a fighter. LCA due to its small size and low RCS will have a very low burn thru range giving it advantage in EW jamming envoirnment. I can't say much about energy weapons and their...
