That's how lot of BVR duels happen. You lanch & immediately turn away to not close in the distance. Here's a famous set of pics And with the Python-5 he's doing the same maneuver since by Tejas in airshows. It's for show i suppose.

Not so significant... The BVR launchers are themselves lighter than CCMs with their launchers (assuming the missiles will be gone by the time of high-AoA). I agree here... A 1st strike will take out the whole AF or a sudden local breakthrough may get a jet captured intact. Too small nations...

They did... boi got hired by HAL didn't he? His work is famous in social media. That's unlikely IMO. It's lower weight & drag than LGBs.

Working on fanart after a long time. Developed more on the Mark1A's angled dual-CCM concept on LIFT renders by @Kuntal. Demonstrates well how the arrangement will allow Tejas to dual-rack BVRs... ...which is necessary as Jf-17 & J-10C have finally got them operationalised. Thus our 220 LCAs...

Because an order will allow expansion of the Tejas assembly line... Now that we've got a 83+97 additional order, the export push will reduce.

Noone uses it in practice. Not even US themselves. And the LDP is believed to double as IRST, maybe we'll get a dedicated pod in future

Altered the CCM twin-launcher based on this... will allow 3 CCMs with ASPJ, or MAWS pod & ASPJ with 2 CCMs. Much better than what I initially thought of. Dual-rack Astras fit easily Idea credits @NutCracker. Render @Kuntal My personal favourite would however be the last, replacing the central...

I could get behind this... One already existed for Mig-21 with the R-60 missile called P-62-II twin launcher. @Kuntal check out this idea.

Read & understand properly before replying. If it can take two CCMs like this... ...it should be able to support 2 CCMs like this. This latter is better aerodynamically & will allow middle pylon BVR dual-rack.

LCA TEJAS MK1 & MK1A: News and Discussion

As far as the Jammer at outermost pylon is concerned I think I have said this before. Tejas have been experimented with wingtip pylons while trying to optimise the Mark 1 platform. And both 2 CCMs at out board pylons or 1CCM & 1Jammer have been tried. The outer pylons are so rated to take...

LCA TEJAS MK1 & MK1A: News and Discussion

If you're at a 1v1 then there has been a drastic tactical & planning failure or we've been surprised thing have been going really bad. The strength of Tejas is to switch off its own radar & use Su-30s' lock to launch BVRs from shorter range. Its EW & RWR is better so it is safer for Tejas to go...

LCA TEJAS MK1 & MK1A: News and Discussion

One thing to be noted... If the IOC jets weight 7400kg & FOCs weighed 7070kg that kinda explains the difference in perfomance at airshows. I'm curious to know how Mark1A will fly in an airshow.
