Maybe. Maybe not.
US products are war proven. Chinese ones absolutely not.
See the results of west weapons in Ukraine, versus non exported russian ones.... And China weapons remained of a russian inspiration, if not more.
By using a less rich powder booster, or with less powder in the booster.
But the difference in range (145km vs 300km) is indeed a BS news.
In the west it is common to see an export weapon or weapon system but 10 to 20% less capacity. Never a cut of 50%. But China is not the west....
Indeed, but if I have to go to war, I will take in this order :
1) A weapon war proven,
2) A weapon tested by several customers in differents field tests,
3) A weapon tested only by a single country, not know to be a world wide technical leader
Meteor is the whole european missile industry state of the art missile. It was heavily tested by at least 4 country.
Its seeker for exemple is of the same family than MICA RF or ASTER. ASTER was used to destroy supersonic missile under heavy electronic counter measures.
JF17 is mainly a point defense fighter, low cost. It's nice for defense of a small country as Pak.
China needs more range fighter, because they are preparing offensive actions, and because the country is huge.
A small J10 batch in the Pak air force is something natural. JF17-J10 is a low/med...
JF-17 is the last son of Mig21. Not a bad plane (I only speak of the frame + engine combo. We know nothing about the weapon system), but a short leg nearly made for point defense only.
You can try to compare it to M2000, but never to Rafale. They played in two very differents league.
Easy ! you just use your radar in emission far less !
Except, in some extent, with GaN, there is no magical solution to avoid heat.
P = RI² , even in China.
I didn't underestimate it ! I just found it is late.
Some years ago, I thought about an Indian-french deal : some tejas for the french air force (so as to replace old Mirage F1 and Mirage 2000 to operate in Africa or for peace time air defense mission over France) against Rafale for India...
Absolutely not.
Just to say that india made a big mistake developping simultaneously a new frane AND a new engine.
Just to say that the LCA program was never short and full of success as some said and wrote it.
Just to say that it takes time but you will success developping an aero industry.
