Even giving them away would still bring contracts to shipyards for the renovation of the ships. Chinese shipyards must be so busy they do not care and let them rust away never to be touched again. It is a bit wasteful if you ask me.

    Chinese Navy Destroyers

I wonder why China is not selling off its old destroyers to 3rd world countries. That is how the major navies pay for new ships by selling the old ones.

Maybe you missed my original statement about the power generation, but there is no way that a rusty transport's little old diesel can transfer enough power to charge a railgun of that size. That is why ships planned to carry them have some kind of integrated power system. Even the Type 55 has...

    Chinese Navy Destroyers

How exactly is an old rusty diesel landing ship going to generate enough power to fire a full sized railgun? I don't think people who took this seriously thought it through.

It is nice to see China coming out of 1926 Yagi antennas. If I saw one more of those I was going to laugh.

It is very easy to build a railgun of any size, the problem is making a barrel that lasts more than a few shots. The US Naval Lab got it to several hundred but the requirement is 1000. They are taking a break from testing to build rails lined with graphene. There was no point going further...
