Don't take what this Russian guy says too seriously. He makes video saying Leclerc is obsolete when he basis it off of 90s configuration disregarding the MLU. He is a total clown.

Those tactical radios you are speaking of don't directly talk to the satellite, they talk to a much bigger Ka SATCOM node mounted on a communications vehicle or base camp station. Their range is only LOS to the node. That is why France is using Aerostat communication nodes to extend the range...

Buying SATCOM for every squad in the Indian Army must be expensive. The communications engineer must dismount, pull out a huge pack and assemble the antenna assembly, track the satellite location and establish a connection. He can't move while transmitting and then must tear it all down and...

It doesn't matter what the node is, if the soldier can't go more than 100 meters away from it then he is tethered to it. Does every squad have SATCOM in their unit?

It still wouldn't do the job. When a platoon goes on patrol it is more than 100 metres from the nearest node. FELIN encrypted radio was critised because it could only communicate 1km to the next node.

It appears that any PSU programme that fails at quality controls has its funding suspended by MoD whether it be HAL, OFB or BEL. This looks like they are going to be doing away with these projects in public hands and moving them to the private sector.

The reality is that Israel's cheap prices are preventing your industry from getting the orders they need to be successful to produce with technology you are paying DRDO to develop. If you always intended to buy from abroad then why are you wasting billions having your research develop it...

It sounds like a never ending loop of failure. If you never give your indigenous suppliers an order large enough to make economies of scale then how do you ever expect them to match the price of Israel? Don't forget that Israel is not playing fair, they are a US welfare state in military aid...

Going back to 1999, we still had thermal imaging recon from satellites to aircraft. We still had geolocation for coordinates. Our helicopters could still operate at high altitudes. Our artillery batteries still had digital FC. Our FACs still had the same equipment they use now, at least...

The original discussion is, do you need an OFB that can keep up with a protracted war. My reasoning is, you need an OFB that can fill the quotas of war stocks with quality ammunition for shorter wars which are the norm. Less worry about capacity and more focus on quality. Chances are if you...
