It will be similar in range to Grifo radar with the advantages of AESA. It would be wiser to leave KLJ7 with greater range than trading off for AESA LPI with reduced range.

They can funnel some airflow through the nose cone. It won't provide nearly enough cooling and will increase drag. It will have to run on reduced power or it will overheat. It should have been dropped into the trash bin but is needed for PR purposes.

Everything is owned by CCP but they were created as two separate entities to foster competition. It is the same as Mikoyan and Sukhoi but both are owned by JSC. If they merge then all innovation will be lost as they don't have anyone else to compete with. It is not like China can offer...

Asking a question is not BSing, you still have not answered why an experimental AVIC aircraft is part of a Chengdu test programme. The only one getting trolled is Pakistan thinking they have a new pod for their Junk Fighter. I guess if they want to use it as a chase plane that is all it is...

J-20 is made by Chengdu, why would an AVIC test aircraft be anywhere near it?

Definitely not a targeting pod. That would have a ball shaped head for the gimbal to rotate. It could be a pathetic attempt to give it an IRST function.

They could never have afforded it.

They forgot to bring a compatible tow bar.

Considering the Turks took pride in localizing production of the A/C cooling unit I can't imagine much of any of it is made in Turkey.

How good is your Junk Fighter when Pakistan is purchasing used Mirage 5s from Egypt? https://www.defenseworld.net/news/24626/Pakistan_To_Get_Egyptian_Mirage_5_Jets__Report It is unbelievable the crap your 50 cent keyboard puts out expecting people to believe you have a tri-array AESA radar...

Let me give you a typical French roasting... So this thing is air cooled which is a joke for an AESA to begin with, but now you have an air-cooled AESA with two 500 T/R side-panels for extended coverage. Are you trying to get your radar to the same temperature as your engines...

It is $184 million for three aircraft. That puts the price at $61 million per unit.

That reminds me of Pakistan's first indigenous helicopter.

Pak is completely indebted to China so only by their good graces can they afford to finance hardware they can never pay back.

According to SIPRI they are still importing them.

I thought China was still importing R-77 seekers for SD-10.

You don't want to absorb the heat, you want to deflect it. That is why AESA radars have heat syncs and liquid cooling. To do only air cooled means slots will be cut in the nose cone which decreases areodynamic flow and the friction build up at high speed will be more heat entering the array...

    JF-17 Thunder / FC-1 Xiaolong

You do realise that at high speeds the friction caused by the air increases heat, not decrease. That is going to be one toasty nose cone.

Air-cooled AESA.... The Chinis seem to have a real lack of engineering when it comes to cooling things off as evidenced in their exploding turbofans.

Without a more powerful engine there is little they can do with such an underpowered aircraft.
