    INS Vikrant Aircraft Carrier (IAC)

Last time I checked, the Mig 29K had an availability of 70%. It's high time people stop quoting the 2016 CAG report, that thing is almost 8 years old now.

As of now Mig-35 is only a concept, Mig-35 itself isn't any different compared to the Mig-29K

With production line setup in India, you always have the option to replace the aircrafts that have been written off or that have crashed.

    INS Vikrant Aircraft Carrier (IAC)

Definitely not, both INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant can carry 26 Mig-29K each, which means 52 Mig 29K should have been ordered atleast(I am not even talking about raising a couple of shore based squadrons).

    INS Vikrant Aircraft Carrier (IAC)

Indian Navy should have ordered atleast 100 Mig 29K to begin with for both its aircraft carriers when they acquired the INS Vikramaditya, rather than just 45. Or atleast they could have demanded shifting the production line to India so we could make as many as we fancy.

Few Incorrect points, FFG: 2-7 P17B (Nilgiri follow-on) are planned. Orders will be placed in next 2-3 yrs. DDG: 6 Project 18 destroyers are planned.

    INS Vikrant Aircraft Carrier (IAC)

A Vikrant class copy should be considered to retire the INS Vikramaditya ASAP. If the Mig-29K are going to remain in service even if the INS Vikramaditya, we will be saving quite a lot of money on the aviation component, so in all probability a INS Vikrant copy would not cost more than $3.5-4...

    INS Vikrant Aircraft Carrier (IAC)

I guess both can continue in parallel if the SSN program like the ATV program gets funded by the PMO rather than Navy CAPEX

    INS Vikrant Aircraft Carrier (IAC)

No ski jump, even if its a ski jump + catapult carrier. 3rd aircraft carrier must be a CATOBAR out and out

    INS Vikrant Aircraft Carrier (IAC)

I don't think that would be the case, a 2nd INS Vikrant will not take more than 5-6 years to be built and comissioned. The delays in construction of INS Vikrant can be attributed to delays in delivering ABA grade steel from Russia, leading to SAIL and DMRL working from scratch to build it here...

SSBN have a separate budget allocation due to its strategic nature.

Additional Mig 29K isn't happening, we have already had 4 crashes

Hasn't the tender for Naval MRCA been cut down to just 36 aircraft?

    INS Vikrant Aircraft Carrier (IAC)

STOBAR carriers at their best are suited for coastal defence. Ski jump limits the amount of payload a deck based fighter can carry. Whatever be the size of the next aircraft carrier, it must be CATOBAR at all costs.

    INS Vikrant Aircraft Carrier (IAC)

No need for INS Vishal as of now, operating a 3rd aircraft carrier is an expensive proposition. A CATOBAR INS Vishal is going to end up costing $15-20 bn. For the same money, one can get 12 additional Scorpene subs, 6 additional P15B destroyers, 3 additional P17A frigates, 10 additional Kamorta...
