You forget Ships are constantly moving. And Ship based BMD could be used to provide cover to coastal cities also. Recent example being Syria. I dont see much difference. I would rather say ship based launch system would be bit more complicated because it has to handle all the rock and roll...

Barak 8 has range between 70-90(some say 100 km) .

I dont think anybody is talking about replacing Barak 8 with PDV It is being thought as complement to Barak 8, creating a rough equivalent to SM 3 & SM 2 duo Aegis BMD. PDV will require further development to reach that stage

Precisely since DF 21 has range of +- 1500. PDV makes sense. Barak 8 vs PDV? I think PDV has range advantage over Barak 8: 150 vs (70-90 km). Scenarios could be many: SCS or even our own backyard - Indian ocean

@HariPrasad-1 Your guess is as good as mine. IIRC I had seen a video of Indian scientists testing tethered KKV. And that was the the time when PAD was newly tested. Now does PDV has KKV or PAD has KKV? I believe it should have but I do not have any proof for it.

Dunno comrade about capabilities. Arrow 2/Arrow 3 is kinda joint US-Israel effort. Its more mature. PDV needs further development. BMD expertise is one area which requires a lot of patience, time money & testing. India will have to walk the same path

PAD->PDV is based on prithvi, but has different control surfaces and one major difference being PDV is solid fueled. Whereas Prithvi was liquid fuelled

Prithvi has a dia of 1 m which is quite thick missile. I think not more than 2 could be stacked in one truck.

PAD has KKV. Many moons ago there was a video of the same in test. Though I agree they have many miles to go om BMD.
