Astra is already ready and almost equals IDerby ER. It makes no sense to get Iderby-ER when Astra is already ordered and 50 delivered. Mere difference of 20km range between IDerby-ER & Astra is no justification for import.

Yes, India could have used SAM to kick them out and deny airspace. There may be a grander strategy of allowing Pakistan to attack deserted military posts and thus creating onus on them for escalation. There is no reason to simply assume that India was outsmarted.

I am saying that MWF & AMCA will use same engine. Both will use F414 initially for testing. But eventually, it will be indigenous 110kN engine for both.
