Private involvement is not the solution for everything. ISRO (also DAE) handholds private vendors, not vice versa. They have their own personnel deputed to vendors' shopfloor, not vice versa.

Agreed. Yes, the same is the case with CE-20. Need some work wrt to electric igniters & stage modifications. Looks like ISRO is pursuing that for CE-20 alone. (source: VSSC director's presentations) Nice comparison, from conceptual studies for CE-20 I suppose. You're right about the...

    1. All stage combustion cycle based cryogenic engines are fuel rich combustion cycles. Not ORSC. More advantageous to power the turbopumps by running a fuel rich preburner. 2. There is hardly any need for improvement- it provides the necessary Isp. That's what matters. Don't forget that even...

    1. SCE 200 is based on ORSC. 2. There is little need for any new upper stage engine now- CE 20 is enough. Payload improvement by stage inert mass optimization by using lighter structures/ tankages (CFRP/Al-Li alloy), development of restart capability etc would be more cost effective than any...

I know there are three types. The reason for ISRO choosing staged combustion cycle in the first place for the GSLV CUS instead of simpler GG cycle is because it was supposed to be replacement of the KVD 1 stage in form, fit and function. FFSC is complex & is used in metholox engines. ORSC in...

The cost is a little more than 300 crore, it will match up to the reused Falcon 9 with introduction of uprated cryogenic stage & SC120.

Least efficient in terms of specific impulse is the gas generator cycle. Expander cycle is comparable to staged combustion cycle. Also it's a trade- off. That extra plumbing for expander cycle would add weight which may as well nullify any payload capacity you gain by using it.

Oh my my... Please check the specific impulse of staged combustion with gas generator & expander cycles.

Yes, it's not like Chinese had failures with CZ-5 despite having access to ex-soviet Ukranian semi cryogenic tech. Can you tell me more about those ''small teams'' for GSLV equivalents with successful launches? Comparable LVs are US' retired Delta II & Soyuz, both of which have much larger...

CUS based on staged combustion cycle is far more complicated than the gas generator cycle based CE-20. Ever heard of a CE-20 failure on test stand/ mid flight?? On the contrary Mk2 is a more complicated ''compromise'' configuration.
