CATOBAR fighters are sturdier and heavier to withstand the catapult forces. Catapult provides more thrust during take off. If the same fighter takes off from a ski jump, and thrust is lesser, payload could reduce. So even if the fighter succeeds in taking off, it won't be useful for military...

Where did I write anything that is contrary to what you are saying? My point is feasibility tests and claims are not same as operational induction. Even much experienced and bigger aircrafts designers didn't test their CATOBAR fighters on our STOBAR carriers despite having a multibillion dollar...

What Boeing and Dassault have said about F18 and Rafale taking off from STOBAR carriers is just their claim based on some simulations they have performed internally. There is no means to verify what they have said. If they are serious about their claim, why not have a Rafale take off from Vicky...

Sure, lets see. Btw, what you are claiming is that the miraculous TEDBF will operate from both STOBAR and CATOBAR carriers. How many fighters have achieved such a feat till date?

Mig 29K is not being replaced by TEDBF. Both are different fighters and will serve on different type of carriers.

Additional 57 fighters are for INS Vishal or IAC 2. If TEDBF goes ahead, program to procure additional 57 fighters will be cancelled. Mig 29k will not be replaced by either TEDBF or additional 57 fighters. Mig 29k is STOBAR while both these fighters are CATOBAR.

NLCA is being developed for STOBAR carriers, not CATOBAR carriers. So it doubtful whether NLCA will ever be able to serve on INS vishal. Right now its for IAC1 only

    Naval LCA Tejas

CATOBAR IAC 2 will alone carry about 60 fighters.

    Naval LCA Tejas

Very low chances. NLCA will definitely serve from IAC 1. However, if IAC 2 turns out to be a CATOBAR carrier, neither Mig 29K nor NLCA can serve from it since both of them are STOBAR fighters. For a CATOBAR IAC-2, we will either need to go for CATOBAR fighters (F35C seems most logical choice)...

Dear sir, while we are discussing hypothetical scenarios here when NLCA Mk-2 is 10 years away and no public info on availability of Mig 29K, even if we agree that whatever you have written above is correct, if we arm an NLCA with 2x Brahmos NG, it will consume all its carrying capacity, leaving...

    No...........

    Naval LCA Tejas

Yes. In addition, Naval Tejas was always designed as a STOBAR as IAC 2 was not in the picture at that time, so we were going for STOBAR carriers only.
  13. Defcon 1

    Naval LCA Tejas

    STOBAR only as of now.
