    So, you mean instead of building two in foreign countries, two will be built by the private companies and two by HSL? Then I would be wrong. I assumed the two RFPs are independent.

    The first is a global tender for 4 ships where Mistral, Dokdo etc are participating. 2 of those will be built in a foreign shipyard and 2 in HSL. The second is a domestic tender for 4 ships that will be designed from scratch in India and built by companies like L&T, Pipavav and ABG are...

    So, total plans are for 8 LHDs. A pretty decent fleet.

    We don't need F-35s for our amphibious ships, we want helicopters on them. We want fighters on carriers. So, think of situations where the F-35 is not needed.

    Juan Carlos is in a class of its own. Mistral and Izumo are of the same class. Both are LHDs and can carry troops and tanks. San Antonio class is not a LHD, but carry a similar component of troops and tanks. Can't think of any other competitor in the same class as above.
