    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

The 7.62x51 round kicks like a mule. It takes a lot of training to teach troops to fire in bursts when using full auto. https://youtube.com/shorts/Yd7IRA5bJi4?feature=share In CQB the recoil prevents quickly switching targets which even the US is pondering about with the new 6.8x51 round...

    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

I'm sorry to say this but your post lacks any understanding of ground realities. AR designs don't work in cold weather. One of the major complaints of Indian Army troops using the Sig 716i is that it's not very reliable in sub arctic (read Siachen) conditions. An AK is designed for cold...

    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

It's not that simple. AR designs fail in cold weather which is where we will fighting against Pakistanis and Chinese along the Himalayas. https://soldiersystems.net/2018/07/16/general-staff-requirement-gsr-new-assault-rifle/ AKs are designed for cold weather with features like the rock in...

    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

I don't get why a lot of members here bitching and crying about this update. Our average (not LOC/Frontline) trooper still looks like this : This 'F-INSAS' initiative would be a massive upgrade in comparison to the above.

Most likely Assam Rifles. Female soldiers from Assam Rifles have been inducted very recently into the Army as MPs. K Force is Rashtriya Rifles aka internal security. https://www.dailyexcelsior.com/after-loc-armys-riflewomen-deployed-to-man-valleys-internal-security/

    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

There are only 16,479 Negev 7 LMGs that were ordered. This means that about 12-14,000 Negev 7 LMGs would be in the hands of Indian Army infantry sections assuming that 4-6,000 LMGs are to be kept in reserve. 14,000 LMG x 1 per 10 Man Section = 140,000 troops having access to the LMG or our...

    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

I went over my previous proposal of a modern Indian Army infantry section. It looks like keeping the LMG and DMR in the same Fire Team as the Section Leader helps direct better fire control. For reference, Bravo engages the enemy and Alpha performs the flanking maneuver. Bravo Team - 5 Man ...

    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 No. The shearing effect on the picatinny rail adaptor over time on the MLOK will cause canting on the barrel shroud over time.

Bipods are only used for DMR. Using Sig 716i as a SAW is a good way to burn out the barrel.

    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

The Indian Army uses the Milkor MGL but that just adds more weight to the individual soldier and is quite cumbersome. When deploying a squad in the form of fire teams to flank and destroy an enemy hardpoint you need mobility. Having a rifle attached UBGL allows for less perceived recoil...

    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

When clearing bunkers and FIBUA, your engagement distance will be less than 300m. Maybe even 50-100m. You will be able to put multiple rounds on target, enough to shred any BPJ. 7.62x51mm 's recoil ensures that unless you have a soldier who has been extensively drilled on the round and made...

    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

You will inevitably close in on the enemy. Therefore it doesn't hurt to have some AKs or a similar weapon in the section. Additionally you need UBGLs which Sig 716i or any other free floating rifle so far has yet to deploy.

    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

Goodluck using high recoil 7.62x51 mm in CQB. There's a reason US military dropped the SCAR-H and went back to M4s. BTW it's already happening in the field. AKMs (later AK 203s) alongside Sig 716i.

Thats not how fire teams work. This is the US Army squad level organization.

    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

Sigh 🙄.....I'll post this again. 7.62x39 mm = .300 Blackout, perfect for CQB and upto 300 m. The arrangement I have made below is based on the least amount of effort Indian Army would need to make to have a modern fighting unit capable of CQB as well as line engagement over 500-600 m away...
