In development trial, its the development agency who dictate the test parameters. During user assisted trial too, its the agency who does and check all the parameters but is being shared with customer for their input. In user trial its the user who dictates the parameter based on the specs...

Read the report again. IAF is not ordering any further numbers as of now, but is in process of ordering. In process of ordering means to formulate the strategy around it, to formalize who would be receiving the numbers in what sequence, what would be per unit cost and all. Its a long process...

In development of any system, the hardest part is investment. DRDO on whole can't go on and keep on developing prototypes after prototypes for testing. Somewhere user would have to come with investment. LSP means that 50 nos of missiles would be at the hand of IAF to test it under different...

I've yet to heard of a SAM or AAM doing 40G. Leave alone drone.

Although @IndianHawk and @porky_kicker already explained it in technical term, there is one more aspect of prototype order and production version. ECONOMICS. By ordering 100 prototypes, IAF is now funding the program instead of DRDO.

Moreover AIM and R series are matured platform with field deployment and usage. The seeker of R series is better then AIM in many respect.

No one could calculate the NEZ of any AAM and its a closely guarded secret from designers. We could only speculate it from what is available in open source and taking some base line. The NEZ range you quoted for R-77, just double it. Its practically around 30 km for a target range of 80Km. In...

From whatever is available in open source. From this chart of R-77 we could have a fair bit of NEZ scenario of Astra.

    Astra BVRAAM

R-77 is a mature missile which have seen its days of glory. So we can't compare it with a new comer like Astra. Can't say about Chinese missiles. On paper they are on the top of pyramid, but they are not combat proven.

Head on chase range is 80 to 110 km. Tail chase range is 20 km. NEZ in head on chase is 80 km.
  14. C

    Astra BVRAAM

80 Km is the head on engagement range.

LSPs are used to fine tune the system with user input. So these are also considered as development trial too. Now we would see few more firing trials before bulk order placement by IAF.

Novel thinking........... This could be easily done provided you put a more powerful engine and avionics in it. Who knows, may be same day Hafiz Saeed could blow up in mid of a public rally by some unknown flying bird.

Well Lakshya too has been tested at a tree top flying altitude. https://www.drdo.gov.in/drdo/English/dpi/press_release/lakshya_pilotless.pdf

Banshee or Lakshya are more maneuverable then Brahmos. A highly maneuverable plane has higher success rate of evading an AAM or BVRAAM. Jammers and Flares can't provide a 100% survival.

I was not talking about how to tackle errors. All I was talking about the benefit and challenges of individual wave frequencies.
