LCA TEJAS MK1 & MK1A: News and Discussion

But there are no options with China Russia getting closer and China's meteoric rise in tech....we simply don't have many options.

Ya, we gained nothing from TOT because if we did then we would have an engine by now from Russian TOTs and so on. All complex and fundamental things like metallurgy and so on are still not mastered on our side. Basic and deep maintenance is probably done by HAL but deep maintenance may have...

Not sure if its HAL related thing....I am thinking couple of things one being that LCA 1st version has root deficiencies and may not be prudent to order in large numbers and two being that we have difficulties in getting components from overseas and someone pressing their buttons to influence...

I think we understate our readiness to obfuscate things.....production means stuff is good enough in my opinion and delivery is just a process as that is dependant on basing and other logistics

Irish are not irish anymore in spirit, bunch of chumps that will jump at orders from EU. Minus England, they will become bitches in no time.....they produce nothing other than tax free heavens. I am talking about NI and Scotts in context vs independent one....but they are the same already.

Can it launch in that position or the sensors will be out of whack?

How is a cheap interceptor the criteria, doesn't it have to be capable? It is better to not have one vs having an incapable one...its just some bluster from leftists or female vultures in power. I would not read much into it... They would not consider Tejas

LCA TEJAS MK1 & MK1A: News and Discussion

Yes, detectors/sensors are typically maintained lot cooler than ambient temperatures and it is hard to cool the jet engine just with air without carrying extra processing equipment.....it will just minimize somethings and possibly increase material life

I don't think it will influence to the extent where it can fool the IR detectors....flares are more effective in general

UK vs Argentina, then its no brainer that its UK for us...its better to partner with UK, Russia and French for us than anyone else in that order

I am sure there are lot of issues possibly minor in nature, better to go with slow deployment of first version...I think they are doing it the right way to test it as much as they can

Yes, very cool plane but damn that cockpit is like a space window compared to modern jets....pilots trained on modern jets would be so disappointed with the view, its just too narrow vs Tejas or mki

I think even one aircraft a month is good enough for me...only way is for GOI to put both DRDO and its offshoots and IA/UAF/IN in the hotseat by forcing force to mandatorily give space for experimental divisions and therefore challenging DRDO to deliver and sustain....rest all is talk and...

We can worry all of the optimizations later...first task is to get a quality product that is desired by IAF.....we are literally threatened by China everyday adn even 200 additional fighters wont be too large of a number to have rightnow

No need to break our contracts, if we did indeed attain capability then we should have no problems in moving fast on other missiles...let the actions speak louder. If we waited this long then no harm in waiting a bit more to see if its real or just another misdirection

As of now it is not even serious in single role, this thing should have been deployed as soon as it attained minimums in point defense role.

Multirole is kinda thing with AESA now but also typical Indian attitude to do too many things....I would rather prefer faster deployment in air to air role than being the optimal fighter that it can be..
