LCA TEJAS MK1 & MK1A: News and Discussion

Yes. Reg Mk1A it shouldn't be a problem as it's an iterative of Elta product. Though there will be limited testing. But Mk2, it's a new plane. You need new software laws, new radar means integration and testing again.

Let's worry about manufacturing if we win the tender ..... Needless HAL bashing is injurious to mental health.

It would cost prohibitive to the Malaysians. Simple as that. If they want to buy Leonardo or Yak, they could simply buy weaponized versions of Hawk trainers and be done with. When the chinese intruded into their airspace, the RMAF responded with Hawk trainers. Sadly. If they want a fighter...

Malaysians are caught btw a rock and a hard place. Their ex PM Mahathir preferred JF17, but being a Chinese manufactured Pakistani painted product with latest incursions on its border, it can't really select that plane. The rest Indian Tejas and Korean fighter uses Israeli product. Advantages of...

Lol delayed. They did that ahead or on schedule. IAF didn't pay money and did not create infrastructure for receiving those Dhruvs. Hence was asked to sit on HAL tarmac. Same issues for FOC as well. 4 Tejas were sitting in HAL tarmac for quite long. Infact 6 were ready. IAF had to create...

Actually the OEM responsibility is to build aircrafts. Not order spares for IAF operational readiness. It's the IAF which needs to order spares for future maintenance.

When HAL initially quoted high price it included some part of engine assembling. With IAF requesting low prices , that equation was taken out to reduce costs. I think we are ending up with 6.5m per engine.

L&T built the hull and not the complete submarine. I very much doubt the design is theirs. The design might have come from Russians or DRDO. It's an strategic project as well. Same goes for howitzers. L&T invested money in a damn factory and guess what? It's lying unused. No follow on orders...

It's not the business of the government to be in business. That too as an minority stakeholders. HAL is an company. It's 90% owned by the govt. It's listed. The govt can't simply move around employees to a new non HAL company. It would be delisted, stake holders will go to court, employees on...

It's not a wish list of yours or mine. It's the wish list of the IAF that matters along with the government in power. Nothing else matters. If the govt wants or can spend 30B for new ac acquisition then IAF would be the happy person here. Second private sector people are nothing but ex HAL or...

LCA TEJAS MK1 & MK1A: News and Discussion

As per ADA, Tejas Mk2 is a follow on programme. Unlike the Engine confusion in Mk1, there is no such issues here. Most of the components/avionics are already developed including mission computers. Engine was pre-decided to F414. Parts are being machined and shipped to ADA/HAL as we speak...

Private sector has no experience in building aircrafts. So how come giving maintenance or asking them to build will improve reliability is beyond me? HAL is transforming itself. Myself has turned from a critic to its well wisher. It's performing ok. Give HAL enough orders first. They will...

If they do deliver 8, IAF would have inducted like 80 brand new fighters in the last 3 years. 36 RAFALES, 32 Tejas and 24 Sukhois (12 every year).

This is how slowly and steadily indigenisation is increased. Whether we will use it or not we would like to have a product when shit hits the fan. The problem is DRDO had developed so many products which you can call advanced or which IA had never required at that time, but later was forgotten...

The British did lobby with US. I think it never got to that stage cos Kai can't do without British components. Even if KAI had an replacement for British parts, the UK would have next forcefully blocked GE404. We don't know if there was any British technology involved in GE404 engine seeing even...

Reason why many Indian fanboys site are not taken seriously. Martin Baker seats are not allowed by British to be sold to Argentina. They wanted Ka50. British forces US to block GE404 also blocking Korea to sell with British parts. Without British parts we don't have seats or radome or IFR.

Can be used only as a trainer. Max 12. Not sure if 24 is required to train pilots on fighters numbering around 42 now. NLCA has to carry significant load if it has to fly from carriers. And we all know that won't happen with current thrust. And more money has to be plunged. Like weapons...

Why? Mk1A do not have any physical variations with respect to FOC Mk1. Going to be new radar, internally some more commponents. PR should be done for Mk2. Infact Mk2 unveiling might happen before mk1A.

We shouldn't pay to any others for the upgrade. Should do it ourselves. If we are going to develop most electronics and avionics for Amca then we should be able to do for Su30 too except for the engine.
