    link on NATO triple heavy target: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NATO_targets 10mm plate + 25mm plate + 80mm = 115mm plate @ 60 degrees = 230mm. arjun ammo sure is impressive... :P

Re: Main Battle Tanks and Armour Technology hmm ok, i wonder where hunnicutt got his figures from.

    Arjun vs T90 MBT

Re: Main Battle Tanks and Armour Technology well that's interesting. my figures were taken from hunnicutt. perhaps there's a difference between the rheinmetall gun and M256 in barrel pressure?

    Arjun vs T90 MBT

same height, just wider and longer because of the added ERA tiles and such. also, internal fire risk has been reduced because of external stowage of stored rounds. however ready rounds are still located in the crew compartment, and a hit will still cause the turret to blow off. FCS has been...

    Arjun vs T90 MBT

Re: Main Battle Tanks and Armour Technology max chamber pressure of the M256/RH 120 gun is 630 mpa M829 and 829A1 are fired at 560 mpa, A2 at 565 mpa. and those 470 figures you listed... those rounds are 125mm rounds... for comparison with russian 125mm guns: 2A46 has chamber pressure of...

    Arjun vs T90 MBT

Re: Main Battle Tanks and Armour Technology why are you asking this question again? 500mm@2km for 125mm round 300mm for 120mm round. in other words, Arjun ammo is shit.

    Arjun vs T90 MBT

Re: Main Battle Tanks and Armour Technology then they lied. T-90 has better firepower than the arjun.

    Arjun vs T90 MBT

they're about equal. Arjun has better mobility, T-90 has better ammunition. armour wise they both have large weakspots in the front turret, which with a bit of luck you'll hit eventually.

    Arjun vs T90 MBT

you're the one trying to impose a leo 2 interior arrangement on the Arjun, what with you saying there's a big armour block behind the sight, and sides being 200mm. there isn't.

there's a very simple solution to the AC issue. replace one of the stowage boxes, and mount it on the outside like the russians did on their T-90s. A/C can be seen on the left side of the turret. as for the thermals, russian optics have always been garbage. the only reason russians even have...

the discussion about the turret width is over, and we've agreed that the turret width is ~2.85m over the widest portion. if you need reference, review the hundreds of previous post. if you need answers to any of the questions you've made, review the hundreds of previous posts, your questions...

    Arjun vs T90 MBT

the discussion were over 30 pages ago, but you kept reviving old assumptions despite being hit back with hard solid evidence, proving your assumptions had no foundations at all. there's 4 people in here, using over 4 differenent methods of measuring, using over 5 different sources, images, line...

    Arjun vs T90 MBT

wrong, the japanese type 90 tank has thin turret sides. and also, the korean K2 has thin turret sides. and rear side turret armour of the T-series tanks is roughly equal to the side hull armour. the rear turret side armour should be equal to the rear side hull armour on the arjun. side rear...

    Arjun vs T90 MBT

    sigh.. i made a new and better drawing, where i wasted my time (3 hours vs 3 minutes) to make more accurate measures. measure 16+16+8 = 40 perspective correction 40-3 = 37 multiply by 2 37*2 = 74 subtract from width over tracks 354-74 = 280 +/-7.5cm

    Arjun vs T90 MBT

lol, we're not saying it measures 2700mm. we're saying it measures 2860mm. i was using your measuring methods which caused this massive discrepancy, and it doesn't really help that measures on that image is off by at least 4 pixels due to the low resolution.

if you want to get real complicated, you can try and figure out the exact perspective distortion by figuring out the vanishing point of the picture, and then use a known length or width to calculate an unknown length/width: Mathematics of Perspective Drawing

    Arjun vs T90 MBT

to elaborate further: it's much harder to measure into a picture, than it is to measure heightwise or lengthwise. so for example for an image like this, determining the length of the vehicle is very hard, because the perspective distorts the length, while measuring widths is a whole lot easier...
