Spike MR is only fire and forget, the LR version can be operator controlled.

Nag works fine now thanks to Sofradir IR-CCD processors.

Is that all? The specs I am looking at say 14.5kg for the launch tube and 14.25kg for the launch unit. Add a spare battery and that would make it 30kg.

That is neither here nor there. India has a national policy to buy indigenously whenever possible the same as France. If a domestic company has a product that meets the forces requirement it is a closed contract. Building your domestic MIC is a matter of national security that is just as...

    Nag anti-tank Missile

This is a very important development for India's defence industry. Israel has been encroaching on several areas India should have already achieved independence from foreign supply. Cancelling Spike is the first step, cancelling ATHOS is the second. The final step will be ridding all Israeli...

Any ATGM can be fired at low flying helicopters. A stinger is far cheaper than a Javelin which is the first reason they prefer it, the second is speed, it is much faster, the third reason is altitude and the last reason is IR. Helicopter engines get very hot and easily show up on even the...

You wouldn't want Brimstone or SPEAR, nothing about them is done CHEAPLY. Base variant is $150,000 to $250,000 for the extended range SPEAR. SPEAR was designed with limitations to fit into the F-35B weapons bay and rely on the aircraft's all aspect sensors so it is already crippled out of the...

Even the DRDO Armoured Ambulance is based on BMP-2. If a colonel orders a pizza, it is delivered in BMP-2.

Is that why they chose the BMP-2? I would have thought a lighter wheeled chassis would have been better.

    Nag anti-tank Missile

Congratulations on the successful development of NAG ATGM. The official range was dropped from 4km to 3.3km because the IR seeker loses target acquisition in high heat at range from 11am - 4pm. It will always work at 3.3km, at 4km it needs to be cooler than a desert to get target contrast.

India should just go for Spike or MMP. All this drama over Javelin is not needed.

I can put a TOW launcher, quad anti-aircraft missiles or a 120mm mortar in my truck bed. It doesn't make it a good carrier for NAG which uses much heavier weapons and needs several ready loads and reloads.

There are enough 50t bridges to warrant T-90. There are not enough 70t bridges to warrant Arjun. It isn't me making that decision, it is your own Army. What is your choice for NAG carrier? I would put it on VBCI :thumb:

    Nag anti-tank Missile

No, I am saying most of India's major route bridges average up to 50t and can take T-90s. That is why IA decided to buy it en mass and not Arjun. A NAG carrier needing more power and protection would be better off with that. BMPT might not be on order, but it still cremates anything else in...

    Nag anti-tank Missile

It is null to avoid it since it is a matter of logistics. What good is armour if you can't get it to the battle? T-90s are transportable because they meet the weight limits of India's transportation network. A Nag carrier on that chassis would be a better option. If it is good enough for the...

Same reason IA doesn't want more Arjuns. It's too heavy for the transportation infrastructure.
