Roma to get accepted as "Indian Diaspora"?

 Yeah right. If you believe that the average Muslim has an agenda for world domination then you are just as gullible as the lefties. Anyway, I've added my 2c to this thread. None of us control Indian foreign policy and Indian government is not about to take in a few million impoverished...

Roma to get accepted as "Indian Diaspora"?

Dude a lot of European countries have free college education. There is a huge social safety net in terms of free money and housing for the poor in these countries, that is why Syrian refugees are risking their lives to get there. Lack of motivation and culture are the main problems preventing...

Roma to get accepted as "Indian Diaspora"?

I agree with you. However, this thread is not about immigration as much as just a token recognition of their origin from India. Even the OCI card is limited to people whose great grandparents had ties to India at the time of Independence. We are talking about going back to more than a 1000 years...

Indian culture which includes the behavior, thinking of individuals is heavily influenced by Hindu culture. And I say that as a non Hindu (Sikh). If it weren't for Hinduism, I wouldn't be Indian culturally.

Well this is true technically. However, we are not anthropologists and are using the term "race" loosely.

Roma to get accepted as "Indian Diaspora"?

Looting, kidnapping, prostitution is not part of Indian culture for the most part. Whatever link the Roma might have with India, the community problems have been started in Europe over centuries and a distinct non Indian culture mixed with Catholicism has evolved. Racially too, they have mixed...

They are a mix of Indian and Central European components although being much closer to Europeans than Indians. Their shared IBD length is 2.70 times longer with Europeans than with any Indian population. "IBD analysis showed that Roma are closer related to European populations" I feel that...

Roma to get accepted as "Indian Diaspora"?

I believe it. The new pope is active in politics and is a huge libtard as well. Yeah, Roma are mostly Catholics with their own patron saint, I just looked it up. Blessed Ceferino Giménez Malla is considered a patron saint of the Romani people in Roman Catholicism.[186] Saint Sarah, or Sara e...

Roma to get accepted as "Indian Diaspora"?

Although I believe Roma are Catholics, only Catholics follow the pope who is the Bishop of Rome. The unifying potential of Islam is much greater than Christianity at least in the modern day.

Roma to get accepted as "Indian Diaspora"?

My personal belief from reading a few papers is in origin of Roma from the Banjara community of Northwestern India. They are known to travel from place to place and are spread from India to Afghanistan. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banjara

Mohammad Bin Qasim invaded India in 711 AD (1300 years ago). From the paper @Soul83 referenced, Roma are said to have immigrated around 750-900 years ago. Wonder what was the reason behind the exodus - persecution, enslavement or economic migration.

Roma to get accepted as "Indian Diaspora"?

@Soul83 I don't mean to be offensive. Can you elaborate on why Roma culture is perceived as unwilling to work and to cheat/steal/hustle their way through life? Is that reputation deserved?

Roma to get accepted as "Indian Diaspora"?

Indians in general are not very xenophobic of foreigners. If the government of India allowed such an immigration (it won't be for money) Roma would not be discriminated against for the most part in my opinion.

Roma to get accepted as "Indian Diaspora"?

Not really. The blue part is West European, ANI is the light green part and the red part is ONGE. Also, ONGE is much higher than Punjabis. Anyway, would you want the goverment of India to make Roma eligible for a PIO card?

Roma to get accepted as "Indian Diaspora"?

Well most Pakistanis have a higher European component compared to other Indians except Punjabis. Pashtuns have an even higher component and then Iranians are even higher. All these populations have links with India but are no longer considered Indian due to evolution of separate culture and...

I actually didn't realize that OP was a Roma. If I'd known, I'd have been more considerate in my posts and tried not to offend. I have nothing against the average Roma person, however there is a problem in their community with crime, poverty etc. You can call it problem with integrating into...

Dude, google it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romani_people https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Romani_people Watch this documentary, highly recommend it. It is easy to be a bleeding heart liberal when you don't know much about their traditions and culture.
