Quick Reaction Missile to be developed by BDL and DRDO

off-topic The best solution for thwarting such incursion in said areas is a massive deployment of ASLESHA 3D in an overlapping pattern with interceptor support from Igla. Though shooting is not still an option. Making RWR of intruding Chinese helicopters Bip Bip will give a strong message that...

Quick Reaction Missile to be developed by BDL and DRDO

So you are saying BDL does not have any tool to produce QRSAM systems despite getting prepared to produce Astra MK-1 and NGARM? And going to Isreal or France for some special tools (because you can't source them indigenously yet) is some insult? Wonder how many countries and their companies...

Quick Reaction Missile to be developed by BDL and DRDO

You would not want to blow is tactical n-tipped rocket over your head. 25 kms interception range(slant) means shooting down a target which is in visual range. Though it will definitely minimise damage if an attack is imminent. Best counter for NASAR is intelligence plus Prahar.

Quick Reaction Missile to be developed by BDL and DRDO

Seeker from RCI is still some years away. DRDO may not delay this project for it because it is supposed to be a fast-track project. In all likelihood interceptor of QRSAM will use same AGAT seeker that is there in Astra MK-1, atleast in the first block.

So which radar they used yesterday as FCR to lock on the target and guide interceptor towards it?

Quick Reaction Missile to be developed by BDL and DRDO

It's just a nomenclature. Don't mince it too much. Basically, all SAMs with fully active guided interceptors functions the same way. However in this case mobility and deployment time are the differences. Meaning QRSAM is build to be deployed and make active at short notice. Thereby providing SAM...

Quick Reaction Missile to be developed by BDL and DRDO

Kindly refer to a particular system in QRSAM which stands true for the allegation of your's justifying the disgraceful remark and is much greater than USA stealing swept wing design and turbojet technology from laboratories of defeated third Reich. Speaking of the industry. Yes people learn...

Quick Reaction Missile to be developed by BDL and DRDO

It was not expected to start shooting targets in a time period as small as 14 months by the same pessimists as you. Since I am neither a pessimist nor a mystic I can't comment on the number of years it will take to induction. But do mention that at the core this system is tested; be its missile...

Quick Reaction Missile to be developed by BDL and DRDO

That is something time will tell. But as far as IAF is concerned Astra MK-1 is about to be inducted and QRSAM is based on Astra MK-1 and an improvement over it. Also what makes this deal even sweeter, the Akash SAM has seen repeated orders from services............... It seems DRDO systems sees...

Quick Reaction Missile to be developed by BDL and DRDO

The rocket engine is basically a spin-off of Barak 8 (elongated Derby) engine (a DRDO developed system). Going by the pic of QRSAM, it definitely has four thrust deflectors (call it TVC if you like) whose scaled up and bit modified version can be seen in AAD. BTW timing of making this test...

Quick Reaction Missile to be developed by BDL and DRDO

I will not be surprised if FCR of this system is based on LRDE FCR for Tejas (Utttam or otherwise) as interceptor missile is basically a heavily modified -- aft section is longer with newly shaped nose section featuring four fixed canards-- version of BVRAAM Astra MK-1. Besides, two new...

Well, like we guessed it's Astra MK-1 with folded fins.

Quick Reaction Missile to be developed by BDL and DRDO

I don't see much difficulty in doing this since all the requirements at system level is already there. You have many suitable air surveillance radar and also multi mode radar in production. Astra MK-1 is almost done. Even indigenous RF seeker is coming soon. C2 is not even an issue. High...
