India and China can work in IT, ITES, infrastructure and trade ...... Both the nations can co operate on common strategic interests like in Afghanistan.

I'm fairly certain Chinese diplomacy towards the subcontinent has been the most low-key out of any of the UN P5.
In the meantime there is going to be a massive turnaround of Japanese investments from China to Japan. These are all things that fatman Xi knows of. So of course he wants to nip in the bud any Indo Japanese economic plan.
Actually, China doesn't 'know' that Japan is planning on repatriating its investments from China. Given the fact those investments are physical factories rather than paper securities, they are quite sticky/difficult to move as well.
It's in India's long term interests to make a solid tripartite alliance with China and Russia. China can test/poke/provoke as much as they want and continue playing those silly games, but i think they do realise, for their own stable growth they cannot have rabid anti-China rhetoric constantly coming from India, after all a growing India is a potentially huge market for its own exports. A friendly, strong and growing India is in China's long term interests. If those party bosses feel a few thousand sq km of land is more important than a huge market that can support its export economy, it would be a folly. India's strength, current strength is at its weakest now, cannot be taken as a benchmark for its calculations even for short term strategic and economic policies, by China. They'll have to prepare for a more confident and demanding India in the short term.

Predicting Modi's strategic policy vis-a-vis China at this moment, will be premature. He has certainly shown keenness in improving Chinese investment in Gujarat which is as much truw with the Japanese also. We will have to wait Modi ascendance to power and observe overall strategy to bring India back on the path of tremendous growth, which obviously cannot be done in isolation. China, Japan, Russia and even West will each have a part to play. Good or bad, we will be able to predict in a few months time.
