There are many. Mongols, Manchurian, Japanese wars and defeat of China. Greek, Mongol, Turkic, Arab wars and defeat of Persia. Islamic defeat of Hindus, British defeat of the Indians. Marathas wars and defeat of the Mughals. Mongol and Turkic wars and defeat of the Islamic world. Saxon, Norman, Viking wars and defeat of the Brits. Roman, Turkish, Frankish defeat of the Greeks, etc, etc, etc, etc

GWI had to be the most lopsided victory in history. French forces destroyed an entire division with no loss. When Saddam's general came to talk terms to the coalition, he talked about prisoner exchange, when he found out how many hundreds of thousands we had, he dropped his jaw to the ground.

I think the SIX DAY WAR in the Middle East is the most damaging defeat. In 6 days, Israel managed to defeat Jordan, Syria, Egypt and mercenaries from Iraq and Pakistani fighter pilots flying for Jordanians.

Forced to surrender under the threat of an overwhelming power
A Photo-Essay on the Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
In 1945 , the US dropped to atomic devices on the Homeland of Imperial Japan , Targeting the cities Hiroshima And Nagasaki.
The Cites themselves were left relatively untouched by conventional bombers so as to study the effects of the Bomb.
Japan surrendered soon after , and the resulting Nuclear fallout is felt to this day.
This surrender came despite the fact that Japanese had already resorted to Kamikaze tactic's , and were digging in for long defense fight against the Americans who fleets had already reached the shores of Japan , After fighting their way through and sinking the eternity of the Japanese fleet and decimating its Naval. This only highlights the overwhelming feeling of helplessness , that the Japanese would have felt after the bombings, that having tried every tactic and strategy against the Americans and failed , they were still willing to fight the Americans to the last man up until the point the A-bomb was dropped on them.
Forcing the people who were willing to die rather than surrender to surrender.
By the end of the war Japan was defeated in all way's possible. They were militarily , culturally , technologically defeated.This despite being historically strong on as a nation on all these aspects.
Japan in the end had to be rebuilt from almost zero at the end of the war.
For these reasons i say , Japans Defeat at the end of the war was the worst defeat in world history.

Confederates losing in the US civil war would be in my opinion one of the worst defeats. Worse, not because they were the good guys and should have won. The result of this war had consequences for the wars to come ie WW1, WW2, cold war

True... but still they couldn't manage to touch Mauryan Empire--us. Greeks, Persians and Huns of Mongolia tried wars with Mauryans and got thrashed left, right and centre. The last of these international conflicts between us and foreigners during the Golden Era, ending up with General Selucus of Alexander's Greek empire giving his daughter's hand in marriage to Chandragupta Maurya. ..=i+

Mahabharata's Kurukshetra war between Pandavas & Kauravas

Location: Kurukshetra, modern-day Haryana, India.
Fought between: Pandavas & Kauravas.
Strength: 1,530,900 & 2,405,700 soldiers (Respectively)
Survivors: Only 8 known survivors from Pandavas & 4 survivors from Kauravas.
Result: Kauravas fall & Pandavas back to power.
Worst war defeat ever according to me as it ended with fall of evil ideology in battle against the righteousness. From politics to physical strength and from War rules to complex battlefield formations, Kurukshetra War saw it all not just casualties but the defeat of sinners.

Sonny jim, Mongols as under Chengez Khan didn't exist then but they did exist in the forms of tribal warlords attempting constantly what Chenghez Khan achieved greatly after so many years past the Mauryan rule.

The worst defeat was the Mongol wars with China and Islamic world. The slaughter the Mongols caused the rest of the world was unimaginable. Genghis Khan had an army that was literally a moving nation killing and looting large parts of this planet. What they did I dont think was matched yet. Puts Hitler to shame.
