Hitler's pre-election speech in 1932. Note that he promises that he will "throw all other parties into their graves", essentially promising them a Nazi dictatorship.

The Germans endorsed his views, voting the Nazis to be the largest single party in the elections.

Goebbel's famous "Totaler Krieg" (Total War) speech at the Berlin Sportpalast. The Sportpalast was a famous venue for many speeches by Hitler and the Nazi party's top leadership.

After the war, the Sportpalast was demolished, in what was an example of the typical disdain shown towards Germany's historical buildings and monuments by the Allies and Soviets.

They did, voted for a dictatorship. Whatever next? It's like voting who eats you first, the lion or the tiger ;)

Total war? Come on. They didn't have fully mechanised transport and left women to have babies. Total war my bottom

You mean destroying constructionally unsafe buildings that had been bombed? You mean like the Brandenburg Gate? Still standing btw. How about tooth and molar in Berlin? I've been to Berlin and seen many historically important buildings preserved.

Keep up the propoganda though Joseph. Must try harder!

Hitler's first post election speech. In the 13 years after WWI, Germany was forced to pay reparations amounting to several times its national GDP to the allies. Germany was unable to make the payments, and the resulting hardship caused the near collapse of the German economy: tens of millions of Germans were unemployed, and the Reichsmark depreciated from approximately 5 RM per dollar to 1.23 billion per dollar, wiping out people's savings.

Hitler promised to turn around the German economy and so he did. By 1936, barely 4 years after coming to power, Germany was Europe's strongest economy. German workers enjoyed government paid holidays to foreign countries, the "Autobahn" and many other infrastructure projects were started and most importantly, Nazi Germany ended the bankers' monopoly over the RM by issuing Treasury notes, which helped massively reduce inflation within a very short time. (Something that should be looked at in the Indian context)

Note that the following video is banned in Germany, Italy and France:

This video is blocked in Germany, Italy and France. In Germany such videos and Vorbehaltsfilme (restricted movies) may only be seen in the presence of governmentally approved educators or political minders. (See page 221 of Ministry of Illusion by Eric Rentschler, the Chair of Harvard's department of German Languages and Literatures Ministry of Illusion — Eric Rentschler | Harvard University Press ) According to Rentchler, "No official list of these proscribed titles exists; such a list could only demonstrate that the German government considers the populace of its democracy in crucial ways politically immature."

Re: The World War II History Videos thread

A couple more videos made with excerpts of various speeches of Hitler. Note that there was no teleprompter in those times-Hitler was a powerful orator, and oratory is the hallmark of a great leader. Only those who are able to fearlessly stand before a great mass of people and clearly and lucidly put forth their views, through them, lighting the patriotic fire in their audience's hearts deserve to lead the nation.

Hitler's speeches take us back to the times when we heard stories of great leaders like Alexander, Shivaji and Gandhi who were able to convince and lead thousands of followers through little more than their words alone! All the more so considering the humble circumstances from whence Hitler rose to power, from a lowly footsoldier in WWI to the Fuhrer without any family name, connections or money......all through his oratory alone!

In the corporate world, "effective communication" is emphasized as a key skill for success. The epitome of "good communication skills" has to be Hitler. Through his oratory alone, the Nazi party went from 7 members in 1923 to 12 million in 1932!

Note that Hitler never outright lied in a speech. He sometimes exaggerated numbers but unlike most heads of state, he was very open in discussing politics, the war effort or foreign policy through his speeches. In the following video, he talks about US President Roosevelt's foolish expectations and warmongering antics:

Subhas Chandra Bose, and as per Allied propaganda, how he "shook hands with the Devil" (Hitler) for securing India's freedom during WWII:

A dramatization of Hitler's speech (the audio is original), in a film about the Fuhrer. He talks about British policy of conducting air raids over Germany specifically with the aim of targeting and killing as many civilians as they could. British war policy called for mass extermination of the workforce of German industry in order to cripple Germany's war effort. This fact was hidden from the British public and only declassified many decades after WWII.

By the end of the war, Allied air raids resulted in a minimum casualty figure of over half a million (650,000) Germans civilians killed, with 23 major German cities having more than 50% of their infrastructure destroyed. In comparison, due to Hitler's policy of avoiding civilian targets (except for a small period of 3 months when the Luftwaffe retaliated against the British), only 60,000 British civilians perished in German air raids.

What complete rubbish! Three months? Read some history national socialist.

As for their casualties, well ...... you know .... you've guessed it ........ THEY STARTED IT! Invading Poland after Rhineland, Sudetanland and the Czechs.
