https://www.livefistdefence.com/201...-to-marshal-its-full-muscle-for-the-amca.html

"The technologies and learnings from the LCA Mk1 and the LCA Mk1A will help the DRDO, HAL, ADA and the private sector companies involved to make the AMCA. This was also stated by the HAL CMD R Madhavan. Interestingly, this was in December 2018 when the LCA MkII had not changed into the bigger MWF.

"Earlier In April 2018, the then Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha stated that the feasibility study for the programme has been already completed So clearly, the making of the MWF has no bearing on the future manufacturing of the AMCA"

So by April 2018, only feasibility studies fr AMCA were completed.

AND

Till December 2018 "the 2500 crore ear marked" tejas mk2 ,"sanctioned project as per PIB ", was essentially a SOUNDING BOARD , between IAF & ADA discussing "possible configuration of mk2",

Which has resulted in the MWF.

So actual design process fr MWF has started only in 2019.

Of course students hv to study throughout the semester fr exams

But before that they hv to enroll in a college.

So AMCA has completed ONLy its feasibility course in 2018 April

& Tejas MK2 MWF is entering the college campus only in 2019
You asked me when the project was sanctioned and money was earmarked for it. I have clearly shared that with you. They have been working on it since then.

Now if it makes you feel good you can revise your goal post as well as Tejas timeline too. So as per you mk2 has just started or will start in 2030 so be it.

Bye.

It can go Mach 1.2 for 150 miles without afterburner. The friction of going supersonic will damage the RAM coat as it is poorly made.
Well thanks only if you had bothered to read more below those lines from the source you have got it from..

It can sustain supersonic speed once attained by using afterburner for 150 miles not supercruise.

They are planning engine upgrade for it.

The quote from Air Force Magazine is... "The F-35, while not technically a "supercruising" aircraft, can maintain Mach 1.2 for a dash of 150 miles without using fuel-gulping afterburners."

Unless Kaveri miraculously attains all performance objectives and a thrust close to 100 kN, foreign engines it will be.
Even 100kn wont be enough for AMCA. IAF is looking at 110kn version of engine for initial prototype.

the ferry range is 1700 kms with 1200 ltr drop tanks. So it must at least have a 2 hour endurance under cruise condition.
Last article on lca by indranil and jay claimed that ferry range of mk1 is proven to be 2100km + .

So endurance should be higher at cruise condition.

Because f35 can supercruise without afterburner while rafale will need afterburner for Mach speeds. Also f35 engine exhaust has treatment to reduce heat signature which is part of stealth design. Anyway my point was that j20 has much higher heat signature than either rafale or f35 or mwf and Chinese stealth is immature incomplete.

But you are right a lot depends on how fast will stealth tracking technology evolve. With gan modules radars are set to become more powerful. Also with time irst will become more capable.

It's a cat and mouse game.
Also don't forget passive radars.

Good then the quote itself clarify it's not technically a supercruise but can " maintain "

A test pilot further clarified the same that once it use after burner the speed can be maintained for another 150 miles around without using it. You can read it out in other link available on Google.

There is an engine upgrade planned by 2024-25 I guess to provide it supercruise ability and increase fuel efficiency.

Happy Dussehra to all the forum members.

Just the other way around. It can technically supercruise but the practical utility of such limited supercruise is not much and hence engine upgrade plan.

Technically a supercruise is when it can go supersonic without afterburner. Here it isn't doing that.

It's like a bike run out of petrol and the owner has to take it to the nearest petrol pump .

And while he is pushing it on the road someone says hey Bike that runs without any fuel.

:)

Where did you learn that?
Ferry range is the MAXIMUM range that a jet can fly with MAXIMUM fuel and NO WEAPON load.

The latest news is that Safran has offered Kaveri with 110kn thrust in joint venture with India with all TOT.
There is nothing like all TOT but off course we will be in better position than before. We may even see Russia or USA parting away with some key technology to get the market share in India once this engine nears being operational.

Infection has offered their RD series engine much ago but India had no interest in that.

There was nothing new on offer that we don't know from building Al 31 f engines here. What we need is Crystal blade material science and other related key tech . If we are able to get one indo French engine in that case we can get a little more than that from USA or Russia and with time we will build on it.

The news coming in is that SAFRAN has presented new proposal to our defense minister with their latest offering for joint development of engine with 110 Kns thrust for AMCA ...

Details are awaited ...

usefulness of having a CDS above all..

The country's air force is finalizing plans to induct indigenously made Light Combat Aircraft, Tejas to boost the capability of its aging combat aircraft fleet, Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat said in an interview in New Delhi. It will buy an additional 83 jets, apart from an earlier deal for 40 aircraft, for $6 billion, he said.

The Indian Air Force is switching that to the LCA," Rawat said, when asked about the global tender for jets. "The IAF is saying, I would rather take the indigenous fighter, it is good."

As an aside:

With an increased length of the fuselage to accommodate the new GE 414 engines and the addition of canards, cockpit and undercarriage modifications, a new Uttam AESA, highly advanced EW suite, multi-sensor data fusion, total situational awareness etc it is no more Tejas. It's a totally different config and thus a different aircraft altogether. Give it a different name like Baaz or some such. Why confuse it with Tejas?

A different name will be given to MWF. I had read somewhere about this.
