Why are there more South Indians on the internet?

I've noticed that there are more south Indians on DFI and in fact most other Indian oriented sites than North Indians. In fact online is the place where I first encountered the word "Hindian" WHy is this? Are north Indians not as interested in using internet? TOo poor?? or what? There is hardly anyone here from my state, J&K!!

South Indian better educated and in English at that. A South Indian may have very bad accent but will have good written English. Access to Internet and computers is better. Wonder if there is any survey on internet penetration region wise.

Look at the positive side.

In favour of South Indians:
South Indians spend too much time in front of their desktops and laptops, so they have less time to stand on the streets and throw trash all over the place. This is probably one reason why South Indian cities are generally cleaner than North Indian cities.

In favour of North Indians:
In my experience, a majority of South Indians are into IT, and due to the nature of their job, they end up like fat, pot-bellied Humpty-Dumpties. If you want to see really handsome men, with taut muscles, six pack abs, etc., go to the countryside of Bihar or UP, or better still Himachal or Uttarkhand. Sure, they might be uneducated village hicks, but they look like humans, not potatoes.

You do find Naarth Indians on bollywood forums, porn forums like exbii, etc. You find them less on sites like DFI and desipundit and skyscrapercity.

I'm sure your comment about "South Indians have less time to throw garbage" was a light-hearted one.

Regarding IT, actually a majority of people who blog on the internet in India are into IT, whether Naarth or South or West or East Indian. In my interaction with IT walahs for years now, I've hardly seen humpty-dumpty potatoes. You are probably confusing our IT industry with the American one. We do have overweight people, but hardly as many as in the US - obesity is still not such a major issue here, even in the IT industry.

And when you say "in favour of North Indians", why are you speaking of village hicks? What you need to do is compare middle-class to middle-class. What is the sense in comparing an IT professional to a farm worker in Bihar?

Actually there isn't much difference between them, in a stereotypical sense. For all the distinction we Indians make internally, among the middle classes in the country there isn't much regional difference.

Not everyone in south India is into IT. Not all of Bangalore's 8million population is in IT.

A sizeable number of people working in Bangalore's IT sector are North Indians. Be it Biharis, Bengalis, Gujaratis etc.
These guys are also forming a sizeable population on the net forums. I am also a migrant to Bangalore, technically though I have lived all my life over here. And I am not into IT either!

really...come here the end of South KanyaKumari..Peoples all of them have with taut muscles and six pack abs....and cute girls too....and Military is also a reason here in Kanya Kumari mostly 10 out of 7 in Police dept or Military to made our peoples into a natural body

I have been to Kanyakumari, and I have seen lots of fit men, with well defined muscles, and lots of human poop on the rocks in Kanyakumari as well. I have been to TN unpteen number of times, and have travelled from Chennai->Nagercoil->Kanyakumari->Nagercoil->Trivandrum.

I guess Kanyakumari has the good and bad of North India.

At the risk of starting a city-vs-city here, let me put forward a point that Delhi is good only in terms of infrastructure. If you go to Old Delhi, or anywhere in the bylanes of the several villages in Delhi, it is filthy as hell. The localities around Hazrat Nizamuddin are probably the worst in the entire country.

The city of Delhi has an attitude problem - the attitude and "spirit" of the city is horrible. Misogynistic, unnecessarily aggressive and abusive, rude, chauvinistic, too much "tashan" culture, too much name dropping and "jaanta hai mai kaun hoon" types...

If one does not find South Indian cuisine or the mild language barrier to his liking, one is better off shifting to Mumbai for a proper mix.
