My answer to this thread:
We have been loving ALL other foreign countries without actually loving our own first. This reverse trend has an adverse effect on the psychology of domestic inventions and thinking not being "good" and all others being terrific. You could call me an over-analyst but these small gestures do have an indirect impact on thinking; especially of open-ended people like us Indians where there is no authoritarian government to feed what to believe and what not.
IMO more than love, we actually WORSHIP foreign countries: filmstars die to go to Hollywood, military keeps praising US, Government officials act like losers when British and other delegations come even with their own requests and pleas etc, Russian president comes etc. Rather than showing the image of equal-yet-polite attitude, all these gestures come out openly and are visible to a person willing to observe.
Hence first it is prudent that we first love our country and then we start loving outsiders.
As for political and military specific love/admiration, I would say 3 countries mainly:
-Russia: For their strong and reliable support throughout
-Israel: For their strong support and their own ferocity in tackling similar problems as ours
-France: For neutrality and support throughout our troubled times
