OMG, I just really wish Prada was in this thread, someone I can have a decent technical discussion with, not someone who repeats the same flawed logic over and over again.

Unless you have redefined the term "brown water navy", the PLAN still remains a green water navy with blue water aspirations, same as the JMSDF, the ROKN, and the Indian Navy. A brown water Navy is a Navy tasked with defending rivers and littorals, what the Vietnamese Navy was during the Vietnam War. I've given you links, all you've given me is a 14 year old article.
Educate yourself and come back.

An old STOVL carrier is by no means an indication of superiority, unless the Thai Navy is superior to the Australian Navy if we follow your logic. Maybe the Brazilian Navy also tops the German navy?

All you guys are going round and round in circles.
Give me verifiable proof in terms of technical details WRT warships, communication networks, surveillance networks etc etc, including the numbers built of each platform. All this "we're superior because we have Russian tech and a museum of an aircraft carrier" claims are useless to both of us.
Just believe what you like. All the articles are 2011 learn to read.

Green-water navy is terminology created to describe a national naval force that is designed primarily to provide coastal defense and may be beginning to acquire the ability to sustain operations on the open ocean. It is a relatively new term, and has been created to better distinguish, and add nuance, between two long-standing descriptors: blue-water navy and brown-water navy.

It all depends on point of view. If the author thinks there are only two types of navy. Brown or blue , then both China and India are brown water navy.
If there are three types of navy, brown, green and blue. Then India and China belongs to the middle.

Now go pick.

There have been only 2 terms used in the past Blue water and brown water. In the past only
4 countries were considered blue water (US,Russia,UK,France) now the new terms have been
added for countries in the middle .

If you understand this, why wasting your breath arguing that China is not a green water navy then.
Btw I dont consider russia as a blue water navy.

As a matter of fact, we just commissioned one a week ago. When has not having an AC qualified a navy as "brown water"?

You guys are blatantly ignoring facts to sooth your egos...

It has been set aside as a training ship according to Reuters, BBC, etc. If you think they are lying, please continue to think so, but until someone gets me a credible source that says that it is not a training ship, it remains so.

Before the new energy revolution happens in China, I personally don't appreciate the thought to trigger a world-conquer compaign when your rivals are of similar technology level with you.
Haha.........A wise man finally speaks !!!

The first step to being accepted as a superpower and being respected to be led by, is to project a genuine and softer image. Show the world what you have in terms of family life, work life situation, music, language, arts, history etc. And not the one that was artificially created by Mao's cronies to change your entire history but genuinely what you were.

China is an ancient civilization and has much to offer to the world in terms of soft power.

Military only comes as the last resort.

Tell me, why do you think that the USA was able to dominate and win over entire Europe and later the rest of the world?

Because even though they were militarily strong, they still showed these countries what they had to offer OTHER than a military might.

Europe after years of imperialistic wars and colonial competition, was blown away by this sort of an alliance. Younger generation adopted American styles and trends. US music became popular and influenced people. Icons like Michael Jackson etc became household names.

Did US use military force there? No. Did it cultivate bad blood with any of its former colonies? No. Did it make its would-be or confirmed allies as insecure? No.

What makes you think that countries as far as east Asia joined up with US apart from Europeans and majority South Americans?

Now compare this to what China has to offer.

- Political tensions
- Policy opacity
- Military threats
- Territorial claims and encroachment

Please tell me mate; HOW do you think you are going to be accepted as the world power?

You cannot force people to respect you. It is something that comes from within.

Do you think Europe is still bound by anything to obey US? No. They can technically show them the finger especially the three powers ie UK, France and Germany and create their own spheres. But why do they agree to US on major issues? Is it because of a nuclear threat, military threat or expansion threat? None of these.

China has a long way to go before it can become a world power. Military build up alone doesn't make a country a power.

The Japanese made the mistake, Germans made the mistake, Soviets made the mistake, British made that mistake BUT US learned from them and from the semi-soft approach France used in its haydays.

You are making the same mistake as what the first 3 countries I said, did.
let me continue your fantastic story:
china make same mistake like those three countries and began war with the rest of the world(though its more harmful to china ,china still stupidly chose war, only to continue the story...) cause only in this way can India be shiningly out leading The world to defeat evil china, and become the super power after WW3"¦"¦
well i think Treyarch should really think about rewriting COD9 script and replace US as India.India feels being left in the cold....

Hahaha! "Set aside"?

You do realize that the first aircraft carrier of any country is initially used to train the fleet and its personnel for CG operations, flight-ops, air-wing testing and integrationetc etc right? Liaoning is likely to be highly active in the next 5 years in fleet surface group action across the 3 fleets in order to integrate fixed wing air-ops over PLAN operations away from the cover of land based air assets. The whole point of an aircraft carrier is to provide air cover and air strikes where it would be inefficient for land based air assets to do so.

If it was solely a training vessel, why would it be armed(ASW rockets, Type 1030 CIWS(developed for Liaoning specifically; no other PLAN platform carries it), HQ10 SAM)? Why would the defense ministry say she "will be effective in defending the interests of state sovereignty, security and development"?

You forget that the BBC and Reuters don't make the news, they just parrot what the defense ministry said..
BBC News - China's first aircraft carrier enters service

"Having the aircraft carrier enter the ranks will be of important significance in raising the overall fighting capacity of our nation's navy to a modern level," the defence ministry said in a statement.

The vessel will "increase [China's] capacity to defend, develop its capacity to co-operate on the high seas in dealing with non-traditional security threats and will be effective in defending the interests of state sovereignty, security and development", it added.

1 when crucial weapons (fighter jets...MBT...major warships....subs....ICBM etc) can compete with the other remaining supre power aka the us.....

2 when who ever in power in china will have guts to deal with those who invade our lands...taking back diaoyudao nansha etc.....

unless we can do both of the 2.....we r just some average country like the rest of the world.....

I wish China well, i would like to see them thrive economically and feel secure militarily. I feel the same about India, There is a saying that all ships benefit from a riseing tide.

We all have our problems, US debt and trade deficits, China Authoritarianism and corruption. India disfunction, poverty, and caste system and corruption. The only thing that is certain about the future for all us is the fact nothing is certain.

Well said @average american. What you said is true by all means in this quote and context.
Between ,I was following your previous posts on PAK-FA and other stuff which are not true (I agree that US has THE Best Technology compared to others). I totally agree that PAK-FA will come second to Raptor. But it is better than or on Par with F-35.
Rule #1 :
Respect your enemy and your neighbour.
Sit tight and relax, then reframe your posts on PAK-FA.

Judging by this rate of growth, and the enomous advantage China currently enjoy in her raw industrial power (in terms of heavy industry output, equal to 5X of soviet union at its peak, or nearly the combination of the entire rest world now), I would expect US will fall short in an arms race with us, so I think by 2020 China willl match the US military, and by 2025 or so we can do whatever we want then, our first job to do should be sink japland, and then take over some north terrority, then south China sea etc, then restore a tributal system. :cool2:

I would like to hear you guys honest opinions instead of the typical denial mode replies, since by now actually everyone and their dogs know China will dominate this world soon.:cool2:

dude how ever optimistic you be china can be a world power let me divide it into 3 parts
economic superpower-dollar will stay the conversian factor for RMB so if US has problems RMB will depreciate rapidly
military power- military tech wen discovered is forever but when reverse enginered it needs to be used to make a stable platform
tech power- assembling everything in the world doesnt give you technology
social power- even being socialist you guys have more economic inequality than US

so stay optimistic not over confident
