10 years ago ,My mates and I were all so young ,energetic and vigorous

but now, most of us are becoming uncles and aunts rapidly

Today I am playing PS3.

10 years ago i was just a 10 year old kid studying in 5th grade
and now am just a useless guy who's screwed.

Got into a decent college on my own (free seat in TN)
Studied under an education loan.
Landed my first job.
Performer of the year of my company.
Now planning to a P.G. abroad (hopefully)
all this standing on my own foot

I am not too hopeful to land my first job anytime soon.

A free seat isn't technically a free seat.

You just don't pay capitation for the seat(i.e. buy the seat)

Ahh - 10 years back. I was such a kid back then. So immature and foolish. I've changed so much, its unbelievable.

10 yrs ago everyone said I will be a failure in life. Today I am a failure in life.

10 yrs ago I had my first gf. Today after 3 more gf I have a wife.

10 yrs ago my first stipend was Rs. 2000. Today it is more than 10 times of that.

10 yrs ago my expense was Rs. 2000 a month. Today my expenditure is more than 10 times that.

10 yrs ago I used to do study, swimming, cricket, archery, rifle shooting, rock climbing, karate. Today it is work, sleep, DFI and Fire&Ice with my wife.

10 yrs ago I bought a bike and used to assemble computers while studying to pay the EMI. Today I have a car and still struggle to pay the EMI.

10 yrs ago my computer was a Celeron 433MHz, 256MB RAM, 4GB HDD. Today it is a mid range gaming/HTPC rig.

10 yrs ago I used to go to my neighbors place to watch TV. Today we have 2 TVs in the house + my PC is also a TV.

it seems that most people here have get their life better and better ....that is great.....

In the past 10 years... most people around me has got richer and I am sure that in the coming 10 years, the situation will be better.....

I hope that when my kid is junior middle school student,CHIna will be as rich as West Europe and North America.....

At that time, I will tell my kid what a poor country CHina once was when I was a kid as young as him and how his grandparents and parents worked hard ,in order that he can live a life as good as kids in West Europe and North America.

I hope so too, but one must be patient, and their is no free lunch in this world. Gradual Political and Economical reform are needed to sustain the growth. What has happen is impressive but not enough to play catch up, Chinese economic size have just reach the level of US in late 70s and early 80s, and Im not talking about per capital.

One might argue economic reform is enough, but now the economic reform that will benefit China will threaten the interest of very top in CCP. State run oil company are seating on top of tremendous shale gas reserve and pile of cash, but they are still not able to extract it. What a shame, US will become a energy independent within 5 year if things progress as they are due to booming shale gas industry.

The situation right now in China are not all rosy, for the very least, the elites in the society are all migrating. The government must do more to curb the abuse of its own power. However, the one is abusing are at very top just like the lavish life style of 李鹏 Li Peng family.

in 1980,USA's nominal GDP was 2 trillion USD . In 2000,USA's nominal GDP was 8 trillion USD, which is almost as same as CHina's 2012.

Of course, China's population is almost 4 sizes of USA's....so it is not a big deal ,even if China's nominal GDP catch up with USA's....

per capital nominal GDP is more important ...

it would not be time for celebraton,until CHina's per capital nominal GDP were to catch up with USA's,,,

state-controlle economy is the base of the rapid developement of China.
first, I think that the most important economy section should be controlled by state-owned enterprises....I am against privation
