Indigenous Agni-V missile's successful testing has inspired several Indians to dream of a better and powerful India. It has also inspired a few enterprising netizens to make fictional videos depicting India as an economic superpower.

A video clip titled India in 2030, from the Kannada film Super, is gaining a lot of popularity.

The seven-minute YouTube video portrays a new India 18 years hence. A Briton alights from a British Airways plane which was scheduled to land at Bengaluru airport but is diverted to Mysore due to bad weather. On landing, he finds himself in a city dotted with skyscrapers, foreigners lining up for employment and the world preferring the Indian rupee over the British and American currencies.

Though the video has been in circulation for quite sometime now, the success of the Agni-V missile has apparently led to the video going viral.

Mayuukh Vashney, a student, said, "I think producing videos such as Indian in 2030 is the people's way of showing their enthusiasm and love for the country. Such events definitely inspire us."

After the successful Agni-V test, several online forums saw Indians involved in verbal duels with Chinese nationals over the capability of the missile. And a feeling of elation among Indians was clearly visible.

P.V.S. Chandra Sekhar, a chartered accountant, thinks it is only natural for people to celebrate their country's success. "We always feel joyous when our country achieves something because it is also, in a way, our own success."

Whether or not India becomes a superpower by 2030, Agni-V has definitely made Indians proud!

Here is the video:

Actually, this indeed is possible. India of 1990, India of 2000 and finally India of 2010 are three completely different countries, of different levels of self esteem, different capability, and financial and technological peer levels. 10 year is quite a long time, 20 years even more so. India would indeed be a different country by then, one whom we can barely recognize. So, all I can say is keep an open mind folks, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Not just population but remove some crappy systems like Caste etc. India as a economic superpower is more of a reality but not a military one(like US sending troops everywhere)

More and more foreigners are coming here for jobs.

"Population Problem" as it is portrayed in many places is a very tricky issue. We need to remember that India before 1757 was also one of the most populous country on Earth, as she was in 2000 B.C. Inspite of that she was still the richest, most prosperous country in the entire Planet. The aberration started after the establishment of British Raj. Another queer fact: Indian literacy rate in 1947 was 11% with a population of 30 crore. But fast forward to 2012, with a population of 125 crore, she has a literacy of 74%. So, literacy race actually rose with rise in population.Population rose 4 times, literacy rate:6 times!!

At that time India was still much less in numbers and the pressure on natural resources was much much less.... today the population is exploding and there is a HUGE need of resources.

Population control should be one of the top priorities.

Awareness may be a better way, controlling something like population is dangerous, because once it slows down it cannot be jumpstarted as and when we feel like. We have china as a prime example of what can go wrong if one actually tries to control population.China will grow old before growing rich! And besides, India's population growth has already has substantially slowed down. What is needed now is substantial investment in education, basic infrastructure to transform this raw human population to actual "Human Resource" also known as manpower.

I agree with you Balaji but the core problem is population. You have rightly mentioned investment in Education & infrastructure but will the government be able to provide quality education & build infrastructure to such huge populace!! No Never. Population will drain our resources & as a country we will be weak depending on other countries for resources.

actually population is our biggest plus point vis a vis china...and rest if the world too. By 2050 there will be around 9.1 billion human on this planet, up from 6.5 billion today. India will stabilize at a population of 1.6 and china at 1.4.
Our world will grow old and by 2050, the no.s of 65 year old will be 1.5 billion and china will have 300 million from them? Further around 90 million will be above 85. While western world has taken a couple of centuries to grow old, china has aged in few decades..... YET INDIA will still be young country in 2050.
Thus demographically India is a winner here and that is why we should dream of being the Economic superpower and Military too.

100% true... Infrastructure and government answerability are two topmost priorities to reach this goal. Corruption will automatically go if govt answerability is taken care of. There is no target setting and evaluation of govt employees right from groundlevel to top buerocrats.

The first statement in the video was: "Due to strict air pollution standards, British Airways flight was not allowed to land in Bangalore and so was diverted to Mysore!" :)

Yes I have read about this that population is slowing down and that's a good sign if it's true.India would not be able to FORCE it's people to have 1 child policy.

Education is needed to understand that quality of life is much important than quantity. So better have 1-2 kids rather than creating cricket team.

What's so great about being a 'superpower'?

Is the only objective of a nation to become more powerful than all the rest? Why should we blindly follow the likes of the U.S. and U.S.S.R?

India should forge its own path, rather than seek the attention of Western media with fancy terms like 'superpower'.

Wow nice lines. And actually you are right, nothing in naming or achieving "superpower" status, there is ALOOFNESS and LONLINESS at top, but at same time...
We should be a RESPECTED and A POWER TO RECON among world's leading countries.

A population of billion BRILLIANT minds should always have SAY in worldwide matters. That's it and nothing else matters. Name it as we wish.
